Steelers FaceTime With Ryan Shazier After Win
RYAN SHAZIER
The Pittsburgh Steelers had Ryan Shazier on their mind — and in their locker room (sort of) after their comeback win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night that clinched the division.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said after Pittsburgh’s 39-38 win over AFC North rival Baltimore that they FaceTimed Shazier after the game.
Shazier is in the hospital recovering from a spinal injury suffered during Monday night’s win over the Cincinnati Ben- gals. Shazier is one of the leaders of Pittsburgh’s defense, and they struggled playing without him as they gave up 38 points.
In addition to the FaceTime call, Ben Roethlisberger also sent a nice shoutout to Shazier during his postgame interview with NBC. Before the game, the Steelers had other tributes to their linebacker.
Reports Of Rift With Bucs Coach
After Disappointing Loss To Lions
Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Jameis Winston grew more ani- mated with each question, in- sisting his relationship with Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter is fine and that speculation about a possible rift is a by-product of the team not performing up to expectations.
“Listen, me and coach Koetter have a great rela- tionship, first and foremost,” the third-year quarterback said Sunday, when the Buc- caneers (4-9) lost 24-21 to the Detroit Lions and were offi- cially eliminated from playoff contention.
Winston missed three games and a big chunk of a fourth with a shoulder sprain. He also started four games — all losses — while trying to play through the injury. The loss was the eighth in 10 games for Tampa Bay, ensur- ing a losing record after en- tering the season with heightened expectations based on going 9-7 a year ago.
“We have the same goal when we go out there on the football field, and that’s to win the football game. So it doesn’t matter what anybody else can possibly say,” Win- ston said.
“Obviously, a lot of stuff can come out when we’re not

doing as expected. But that’s false,” the 23-year-old quar- terback added. “Coach Koet- ter coaches his tail off. He definitely supports me. So whatever anybody else has to say outside of that ... that’s water under a bridge. That’s shocking.”
Winston completed 26 of 38 passes for 285 yards and a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns against the Lions (7-6), who escaped with a win on Matt Prater’s 46-yard field goal with 20 seconds remaining.
The Bucs haven’t made the playoffs since 2007. Lovie Smith was fired as coach after Winston’s rookie season in 2015, and ownership replaced him with Koetter, in part because of the relationship he had forged with the quarterback as Tampa Bay’s offensive co- ordinator.
Miami Northwestern took the fifth – but it spoke loudly in the process.
Northwestern won its fifth football state championship in school history when it turned back Seffner Arm- wood 21-16 on Friday at the FHSAA Class 6A state title game at Camping World Sta- dium in front of 5,805 fans.
Armwood rallied in the closing minutes and nar- rowed the score to a 5-point game when senior quarter- back Devin Black scram- bled 11 yards for its final touchdown, and it also had one-last desperation drive to pull out a win in the closing minute but it came up short when the drive stalled on its own 48.
Northwestern – ranked No. 2 in the final AP Florida High School Football Poll – had picked up some much- needed breathing room with 1:10 left in the third quarter when senior quarterback
Chatarius Atwell con- nected on a 46-yard touch- down pass to Kiaryn Davis to go up 21-9.
Northwestern took its first lead of the game with 3:41 left in the third quarter when Atwell zoomed 51 yards down the Armwood sidelines for a 15-9 lead after the point- after attempt was blocked.
Both teams entered half- time deadlocked at 9-9 after Armwood opened the scoring with nine first-quarter points, riding a safety after a muffed punt snap and a 5-yard touchdown pass from Black to Warren Thompson.
Northwestern answered with nine second-quarter points, after a safety and a 12- yard touchdown run by Davonne Kendrick.
At halftime, Armwood had just 53 yards of total offense while Northwestern had 113.
Northwestern won titles in 1995, ’98 and back-to-back in 2006-07.
Gerald McCoy Reportedly Fears Biceps Injury Is A Muscle Tear
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy may have suffered a biceps tear during Sunday's 24-21 defeat to the Detroit Lions at Raymond James Stadium, Florida Football Insiders' Roy Cummings reported.
According to Cum- mings, McCoy believes the injury will knock him out for the rest of the 2017 season. This would be the third time he has a biceps injury after the same issue arose in 2010 and 2011.
McCoy also nursed a strained groin in the presea- son and was briefly ham- pered by an ankle injury in advance of the Bucs' Week 4 clash with the New York Gi- ants.
Of course, injuries are nothing new for the pulse of the Buccaneers defensive line. Although McCoy ap- peared in 15 games last sea-

son, he was a mainstay on Tampa Bay's injury report because of nagging calf and foot ailments.
Despite suiting up at less than 100 percent, the 2010 No. 3 overall pick was still able to record seven sacks, 34 total tackles and two forced fumbles.
Through 13 games this season, McCoy has man- aged five sacks and 40 tack- les as Tampa's most disruptive interior presence. The complexion of the Bucs defense changes without McCoy manning one of the defensive tackle spots.
Eagles Reportedly Concerned Carson Wentz Has Torn ACL
The news on Carson Wentz might be really bad.
The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly are concerned that Wentz has a torn ACL in his right knee, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Wentz exited Philly’s game against the Los Angeles Rams late in the third quarter of Sunday’s game after being hit by a few Rams defenders on a dive into the end zone. Wentz scored on the play, but the touchdown was nulli- fied by a holding penalty. The second-year QB remained in the game and eventually fin- ished the drive off with his fourth touchdown pass of the game before exiting.
CARSON WENTZ
Wentz was initially ex- amined in the medical tent before being taken into the locker room. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.
Wentz was replaced in the game by Nick Foles.
