Free Playground Dedication And Block Party In University Area CDC’s Harvest Hope Park
Families Gather To Give Thanks
Families gather for Thanksgiving celebrations to focus on the blessings they have enjoyed for the past year. Sentinel Photographer, Julia Jackson stopped at the Thanksgiving family gatherings hosted by Ora and Fred Chester, Bonnie Dukes and Deacon Jesse and Bishop Michelle B. Patty.
The community residents will join together for fun, art and food in this free celebration, Community Block Party and Dedication, which will be held on Friday, December 12, 2017, 3- 6 p. m.
The unveiling of “Art in the Park” projects, including a sculpture by professional artist Junior Polo and other artists and community residents, will occur from 3 to 4 p. m., along with a playground dedication and ribbon cutting, and a walk- ing tour of the different art proj-
ects.
Harvest Hope Park, located
at University Area CDC, 13704 N. 20th St., Tampa (33613), is in transition, as a spacious and col- orful KaBOOM! playground has recently been installed, and proj- ects in progress include a multi- purpose sports field, tilapia fish pond, walking trails, upgraded sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, irrigation and parking spaces. A community garden already is in place, as is the Harvest Hope Center, which includes a kitchen to be used for teaching purposes.
Ora and Fred Chester have hosted their family for Thanksgiving dinner for many years. Family members gathered at their Seffner home for a sumptuous meal.
