‘The Haves And The Have Nots’ Star Angela Robinson To Highlight FAMU’s Homecoming Festivities

TALLAHASSEE – “The Haves and the Have Nots” star and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) alumna Angela Robinson will highlight the University’s weeklong 2015 Homecoming festivities. This year’s theme is “Straight Outta FAMU” in tribute to FAMU alumnus and acclaimed movie producer, Will Packer.
Robinson, who graduated from FAMU in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Homecoming Con- vocation on Oct. 17.
She is a native of Jack- sonville, Fla., who began her acting career on the stage on Broadway and Off Broadway.
Before becoming a star on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), prime-time hit televi-
sion show “The Haves and the Have Nots,” Robinson appeared on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”
Commenting on the week of festivities, FAMU President Elmira Mangum, Ph.D., said, “It is exciting to have Rat- tlers come back to the “Hill” to see the great things that are happening on campus every day and to connect with our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. Homecoming is a time of revival and renewal.”
“We are also delighted that Ms. Robinson has agreed to share words of wisdom and in- spiration to the FAMU family," added Dr. Mangum.
Homecoming festivities kick off on Sunday, October 11th with a worship service and con- tinue throughout the week, concluding on *Saturday, Oc- tober 17th with:
• Parade and Judging of Floats starting at 8 a.m.;
• Strike Zone Tailgate from 11a.m.to3p.m.atthefootball practice field;
• FAMU vs. Delaware State University football game start- ing at 3 p. m. at Bragg Memo- rial Stadium;
• Postgame Open Air Tail- gate R&B concert featuring At- lanta’s Quinn & The Jukebox at the football practice field; and
• Gospel concert featuring Vashawn Mitchell from 8 p. m.to11p.m.atLeeHall
Auditorium.

Tampa Bay High School students and parents are in- vited to attend U. S. Rep. Kathy Castor’s 2015 Acad- emy Day at MacDill Air Force Base to learn about the congressional nomination process for the service acad- emies and meet with repre- sentatives from the nation’s academies: Air Force, Mili- tary, Naval, Merchant Ma- rine and Coast Guard. In addition, representatives from ROTC programs of nearby colleges will be atten- dance.
