BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
The Temple Terrace Police Department is in- vestigating the death of a 19-year-old man. He died last Thursday.
According to police, officers responded to the Boardwalk Apartments in reference to a 9-1-1 call. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Jere- miah Walters died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A Tampa native, Walters was the son of Ms. Sharon “Nikki” Houston, and Floyd Wal- ters. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Chelsea and Destiny, other family members and friends.
Walters attended the public schools of Hills- borough County. He graduated from Wesley Chapel High School in 2016. After graduation, he enrolled at Rasmussen College, where he was ma- joring in Business Management, his sister Chelsea said.
Walters was also employed at the Miller Ale House Restaurant at the time of his death. His sister further stated that Walters enjoyed foot- ball and loved playing video games.
While typical in other ways, Walters was ap- parently suffering from depression. After his death, his mother posted the following quote on
“Teenagers don’t show the signs of depression and look happy and healthy, but inside they are wrestling with demons that make them believe their life is not worth living. I know because my son took his life.”
Funeral services for Walters have been planned for Saturday, September 2nd. Aikens Fu- neral Home is in charge of handling arrange- ments.

“Depression is a serious illness. It makes a per-
son feel as though life is not worth living. Don’t go through it alone, get help. Although your pain is gone when you decide to take your life, the pain left for your loved ones is inconceivable.
