5 S.T.E.P.S. To Success
Part 2
“Never look back and regret, look back and smile at what you have learned.”
~ Michelle C Us- taszeski
Empowered Greet- ings. This week’s col- umn will focus on Step of the 5 STEPS to Success which is a 5-part series.
Step 1: Stop and Start
Stop focusing on your past and start focusing on your strengths that will lead you to a successful future. View poor choices, ill deci- sions and failures of your past as learning experiences.
Henry Ford said “Fail- ure is the only opportunity to begin again more intelli- gently.” I say, “If you don’t
plan on going back, STOP looking back; because you will never be rich enough to buy back your past.”
Start focusing on your strengths by identifying what you do well. What is it that makes you uniquely different from anyone else, from any other business or any other ministry?
Now define in writing, how you can utilize these strengths and unique attrib- utes to create new levels of success in pursuing your pas- sions and purpose.
Then as the Nike slogan says, “Just Do It.”
Do what only you can do, because there is no one else like you. No one else can uniquely perform what you do. They may imitate, but they cannot duplicate, for there is only one you.
There is no other busi- ness like yours. There is no other ministry quite, like yours. For you are fearfully and wonderfully made. When you, your business and your ministry were created, the mold was broken. And I believe that nobody, but God can conceive the endless pos- sibilities that you have to offer the world. So, GO OUT AND DO YOU!
I am doing me, by using my strengths and attributes to EMPOWER YOU through this column. Use yours to EMPOWER YOURSELF, then go out and EMPOWER OTH- ERS!

The County Commission’s Diversity Advisory
Committee
t is being reported that several members of Hills-
borough County’s Diversity Advisory Committee (DAC) resigned because of the recent appointment of a member of the Save Southern Heritage Florida.
David McCallister, a so-called Son of the Confeder- acy/ Northern and Southern White Europeans, who has often been accused of “disrupting and disrespect- ing” BOCC public comment time limits was added, and some DAC members were stunned.
Indeed, action speaks louder than words, and Commissioners Victor Crist, Ken Hagan, Sandra Murman, and Stacy White have spoken loud and clearly. And the fact that McCallister represents a group that printed the pictures, names, addresses, telephone numbers, political affiliations, as well as derogatory comments about citizens who spoke in favor of removing the Confederate statue is justifi- able cause for grave concern.
Indeed, some of the citizens are considering legal action, additional security measures, and other ac- tions for a situation that many liken to tactics in Nazi Germany. Many more have said because this is 2017, not 1917, they will not be intimidated.
Therefore, we hope DAC members will appeal to the BOCC regarding its recent appointment.
Though we understand the rationale of DAC mem- bers who have resigned, and continue to support the right to respectful free speech, we urge remaining members not to tolerate rudeness or intimidation from fellow DAC members or from the BOCC.
