Tampa Housing Authority Receives 18 Awards

Last week, members of the Tampa Housing Author- ity learned that the agency was named as the recipient of nearly 20 awards. They re- ceived 12 national awards and 6 state awards.
Jerome Ryans, Presi- dent and CEO of the Tampa Housing Authority said, “I am proud of the initiatives that we have implemented as a way to provide a continuum of extraordinary service to our residents and the com- munity.
“Although affordable housing and community de- velopment programs are un- derfunded, the Tampa Housing Authority has stepped up to the plate to do what it could to address resi-
dent services, management, operations, affordable hous- ing and sustainable develop- ment.”
The awards were pre- sented to the agency by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (N.A.H.R.O), and the Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (F.A.H.R.O.). They were earned in the areas of programs and services that have enhanced or changed the lives of its residents and the Tampa Bay community at large.
Tampa Housing was rec- ognized by the National As- sociation of Housing and Redevelopment Officials with Awards of Excellence for Prodigy Initiative, Byrne Criminal Justice Initiative, and Electronic Tenant
Records.
The National Association
of Housing and Redevelop- ment Officials presented Awards of Merit in the areas of Connect Home Initiative, Navy Day-Back to School Ini- tiative, BRIDGES Initiative Community Organic Garden, YouthBuild Initiative, Bright Scholars Program, Online Landlord Portal, Corporate Fitness Initiative, Homeless Outreach Program, and Ten- ant Orientation Briefing Packets.
On the state level, the Tampa Housing Authority was presented awards for J. L. Young Community Gar- den, BRIDGES Initiative, Bright Scholars Initiative, Navy Day Back to School Giveaway, Connect Home Initiative, and Agency Em- ployee Newsletter.
LifeLink® Foundation Announces New Chief Executive Officer
LifeLink Foundation has named Ms. Jean A. Davis as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Davis has been with Life- Link since 1985, when she joined as an organ recovery co- ordinator, and successfully un- dertook increased responsibilities with LifeLink throughout her career. She served as Executive Director of LifeLink of Florida, imple- mented LifeLink organ and tis- sue recovery efforts when awarded the Puerto Rico and U. S. Virgin Islands service area, was executive vice presi- dent of organ procurement op- erations for the three federally-designated LifeLink organ procurement organiza- tions in Florida, Georgia and Puerto Rico, and served as the LifeLink Foundation Chief Op- erating Officer.
LifeLink Foundation is an independent, non-profit com- munity service organization
dedicated to the recovery and transplantation of organs and tissues.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Planned For New Complex

On Thursday, August 31st, at 10 a.m., members of the commu- nity will gather for a ground- breaking ceremony. The ceremony is for the Gardens at Diana Point affordable town- house community.
Located at 4410 E. Diana Street, the complex will consist of 24 units. The units will be a three bedroom-two bath townhome community that will provide families with an affordable rental housing option.
The complex is the latest con- tribution to affordable housing by the Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. (CDC of Tampa, Inc.).
Mrs. Chloe Coney said, “As the founder of CDC of Tampa, Inc, I would like to invite you to groundbreaking of new townhouses for low to moderate income housing. Gardens at Diana Point is a partnership with CDC of Tampa, Inc, Hillsbor- ough County and Florida Com-

munity Loan Partners.”

dent and CEO of the CDC of Tampa, Inc., said, “Given the amount of severely rent bur- dened households struggling to make ends meet on a month-to- month basis, we are very excited about this new development. Gardens at Diana Point will pro- vide families with high quality, affordable townhomes, com- pleted with attached garage.”
The project will utilize SHIP and HOME funds from Hillsbor- ough County. Financing for the project is being provided by Florida Community Loan Fund.
State Senator Darryl Rou- son, State Representative Sean Shaw, and City Council- man Guido Maniscalco are among the special guests slated to attend the press conference.
The housing complex is the latest in a growing list of afford- able housing projects the CDC of Tampa, Inc., has created since its inception in 1992. The organiza- tion will celebrate its 25th An- niversary this fall.
