44th MLK Banquet Is Declared ‘Best Ever’
Tampa Bay Area banquet goers claimed the 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Banquet was the best given by the Bay Area Brotherhood (BAB). That’s a bold statement, said Project Officer, Odie Jones, Jr., but it was the con- sensus of 275 plus people who attended the event Saturday, evening, January 14, 2017 at the Surf’s Edge Club, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.
The Armwood High School Junior ROTC set the tone when they marched in unison to present the Colors of our Great Nation. We appreciate their patronage and profes- sionalism.
The keynote speaker was At- torney	Carolyn	House Stewart, the Immediate Past (28th) International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She took the “44th” and in outstanding fashion, showed its significance with some his- torical events, such as the times Peter is mentioned in the Scripture; famous baseball player, Hank Aaron’s num- ber: 44; Mr. Obama, the 44thPresident and our 44th Banquet. What an amazing correlation of thought-provok- ing facts which caused the au- dience to vocally respond over and over in approval.
Some awards included: BAB Member of the Year to Clay- ton P. Hamilton, who was selected by his peers; The Pres- ident’s Award to Antwion Cherry for innovation in up-

The near-capacity crowd roared with applause as the teenage “Dance with Muf- fin,” all-girls performers, “lit up” the stage with precision
moves like seasoned profes- sionals. The children were sponsored by Karen Smith of the BAB, in corporation with choreographer Tajah “Muf- fin” Sneed.

With the Trump presidency upon us, many are surprised to find out that there are Donald Trump supporters at histori- cally black college, Howard University.
