Tiger Woods Wins Fifth Masters Title And 15th Major
Tampa Bay Lightning On
On Sunday Tiger Woods secured his fifth Masters and 15th major title in what’s being called one of the greatest comeback sto- ries in sports history.
The news is a sweet (if not shocking) ending to a rough journey. While suffer- ing through intense back problems that affected his golfing, by 2014 Woods had slipped in ranking to outside the top 1,000; he was a far cry from championship sta- tus. Woods then fell into a depression, admitting to CNN that he’d struggled with everyday tasks such as getting out of bed, or taking his kids to school. He thought his career was over.
By May 2017 it seemed Tiger Woods had hit rock bottom; he was arrested after being found asleep at the wheel of his car at the side of a road in Palm Beach, Florida. Test results showed five different drugs in his system; Woods claimed they were all prescription painkillers for his back in- juries. He pleaded guilty to reckless driving and was put on a diversion program.
Determined to get his life and career back on track, Woods flew to England to see a renowned specialist be- fore deciding on career-sav- ing spine fusion operation in 2017 here in the States. The surgery was a success and Woods began an impres- sive comeback season last year with his first win in five years. On Sunday the 43- year-old won by one shot at Augusta. This is his first major title in 11 years and first Masters win since 2005.
This victory puts the for- mer world No. 1 just three majors behind the all-time record of Jack Nicklaus. CNN reports:
“It’s overwhelming just because of what has tran- spired,” Woods said in the Green Jacket ceremony in the Butler Cabin.
“Last year I was very lucky to be playing again. At the previous Champions Dinner I was really strug- gling and missed a couple of years of not playing this great tournament and now I’m the champion. Twenty two years between wins, it’s a long time and it’s unreal for me to experience this. My Mom was here, she was

The Washington Wizards announced they won't make a qualifying contract offer to small forward Devin Robinson after he was re- portedly arrested Saturday morning.
"We are aware of the inci- dent this morning involving Devin and are disappointed in his actions. We will not ex- tend a qualifying offer to him for the 2019-20 season," the team said in a statement.

Congratulations goes out to Tiger Woods and his epic comeback.

Life has come full circle for Tiger Woods.
22 years ago, in 1997, Woods won the Masters for his first career major. He was just 21 at the time, had re- cently turned pro, and be- came the youngest Masters winner ever. Woods cele- brated his first career major win by hugging his late father Earl, who died in 2006.
22 years later, in 2019, Woods overcame an 11-year
major slump to win his 15th career major. He won at Au- gusta National once again for his fifth career Masters. This time, his father Earl was no longer around. Instead, Tiger celebrated with his son, Charlie, who never met Earl and had never witnessed his father win a major.
“I’m at a loss for words,” Tiger said of the situation. “My little boy Charlie ... the embrace, it’s just special.”
Reuben Foster was cut by the San Francisco 49ers for an incident in Tampa last season in which Foster was arrested, but the NFL found there was no reason to sus- pend him for it.
However, strangely, it did find that Foster was guilty enough of something to fine him two game checks. The NFL announced its decision just before the end of the business day on Friday.
Foster, an inside line- backer who was claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins in a controversial transaction, was arrested last November on suspicion of domestic violence battery be- fore a 49ers-Tampa Bay Buc- caneers game.
Foster, who had previ-

ously served a two-game sus- pension that stemmed from an incident with another do- mestic violence allegation, was arrested on Saturday be- fore the Bucs-49ers game and cut the next morning.
Despite taking a lot of heat for claiming Foster after he was cut, the Redskins won’t have to wait for Foster to serve a suspension.
