A Tampa man is facing a DUI manslaughter charge in connection with the death of a bicyclist. The accident took place at the intersection of N. 15th Street and E. Dr. M. L. King, Jr., Blvd.
Police responded to the scene shortly before midnight this Monday morning. When they arrived, they discovered the unidentified man riding the bicycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The vic- tim was in his 60s, police said.
According to witness ac- counts of the accident, the vic- tim was traveling westbound on M. L. King, Blvd., against the north curb line of the out- side on his bicycle. The victim’s bicycle was properly lighted, and he was traveling with the flow of traffic.
According to police, 48- year-old Wayman Jerald Pearson, II, was driving a 2010 Acura and traveling west- bound in the outside lane. Pearson is alleged to have struck the rear of the bicycle with his vehicle. The victim vaulted into the windshield of the vehicle and came to rest on the sidewalk north of Dr. MLK Blvd. He died at the scene.
Witnesses told police that after colliding with the bicycle, Pearson drove away from the scene approximately 3 blocks before turning around and slowing coming back. He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
On Sunday at 2 p.m., 38- year-old Ernst Cherizard walked into the Haines City Po- lice Department. He is accused of killing two women and a 6- year-old child.
Cherizard had been the subject of a manhunt in con- nection with the shooting deaths of two women and the child.
On Friday, a relative went to the Citrus Ridge Apartments in Haines City to check on a rela- tive. At that time, a confronta- tion took place between the woman, identified as Ms. Nicole Guillume, 48, and Cherizard. He reportedly shot her and fled the scene in a 2011 Nissan Altima, around 7:15 p.m.
When police arrived, they discovered the body of Ms. Guillume, and the body of
Ms. Eli Junia Normil, 23, the mother of his twins. Little Isabelle Frenel had been shot in the temple, face, and arm.
She was transported to an Orlando hospital in extremely critical condition. She died shortly before 11 p.m., Satur- day. Cherizard is not her bio- logical father, police said.
During the early morning hours on Saturday, and while being the subject of the man- hunt, Cherizard is said to have taken to his Facebook page and left a message apolo- gizing to his children. He is quoted as saying, “Daddy is so sorry with all my heart I can’t even explain what happened cuz I can’t believe this hap- pened.”
Haines City Police Chief Jim Elensky said, “Despite his remorse, make no mistake
about it, this man is a monster. To consciously shoot three, in- nocent, unarmed females is nothing less than being a cow- ard. To shoot a truly innocent 6-year-old child is disgusting and bey0nd comprehension. Moreover, he shot the child at least three times, once being in the head.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the first responders who did everything they could at the scene. They also must live with this tragedy.”
After surrendering to po- lice, Cherizard was trans- ported to the Polk County Jail, where he was charged with three counts of first-degree murder. He is being held with- out bond.
The investigation is contin- uing.
WAYMAN JERALD PEARSON, II ...Facing DUI Manslaughter Charge
Officers said a strong odor of an alc0holic beverage was on his breath. His eyes were bloodshot, glassy, and watery. His speech was also slurred, police said.
Pearson refused to partic- ipate in Field Sobriety Exer- cises. Officers said that during the contact with Pearson, “he never showed any emotion or concern, nor did he question the condition of the bicyclist.”
Pearson was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail, where he was charged with DUI manslaughter. He is being held without bond.

Shortly before 5 a.m., on April 2, 2003, a young Tampa man was shot while in the 3200 block of Lindell Street. He died as a result of his in- juries.
Nathaniel “Yogi” R. O’Neal, III, had just cele- brated his 32nd birthday weeks before his death. His case re- mains in the “unsolved” stack of murders at the Tampa Police Department.
Ms. Janelle McGregor,
Assistant Public Safety Infor- mation Coordinator for the Tampa Police Department said, “Detectives have ex- hausted many leads in this case. We are pleading with any- one who may have information about this deadly shooting to come forward so that we can help this grieving family find some closure.”
O’Neal’s sister, Ms. Pa- tricia O’Neal said even

though her brother was an adult, he is still the murdered child of a family. She described them as being very close and celebrates his life on his birth- day and the anniversary of his death.
However, she feels that someone is still out there who can provide information about the deadly shooting that ended her brother’s life.
“We are asking anyone with
information to come forward. We will keep his memory alive with God’s help and strength.
“We would be grateful to anyone who can help in this case it can be solved and some- one held responsible. My brother at least deserves that much so that his spirit can cross over to the light and he can really rest in peace.
“Our family needs justice. We will have no comfort until justice is served. It has been 16 years since he was killed and since that time, my grand- mother has passed on. But par- ents and grandparents are not supposed to bury their children and grandchildren. We need hope and someone in the com- munity can give us that hope by coming forward with some in- formation. Until then, we won’t have any hope, comfort, or peace,” Ms. O’Neal said.
Anyone with information about the murder can contact the Tampa Police Department at (813) 231-6130.
