BESSEMER, AL -- An Ala- bama mother is outraged and upset after her 7-year-old son was sent to the principal’s office for his haircut.
He was upset and said I had to come get him out of school because he was being sus- pended. He was pulled out of class, saying that he had a de- sign in his head, but it really wasn’t a design, it was a part,”

“They need to notate or clar- ify what is a design? Spongebob, a part, a tennis shoe, whatever,” Rembert said.
Bessemer City Schools Su- perintendent Dr. Fred Primm said it’s hard to define an ac- ceptable hairstyle in black and white in the school handbook. He said this is usually handled on a case by case basis.
Dr. Primm has decided not to suspend the young stu- dent and says he will clarify what is acceptable in the stu- dent handbook.

Mass. Teen Sentenced To Life For Murdering And Raping Teacher
Mississippi Governor Declares April ‘Confederate Heritage Month’ In His State
A Massachusetts teen who followed his teacher into a school bathroom, then raped and killed her, was sentenced to life in prison with eligibility for parole in 40 years.
According to the Associated Press, Philip Chism, now 17, was 14 at the time of the inci- dent, was convicted in Decem- ber 2013 in the death of Danvers High School teacher, Colleen Ritzer, 24. Chism cornered Ritzer in a school bathroom before raping her and stabbing her at least 16 times.

As confederate flags and memorials are being taken down or moved from places of prominence across the country, the governor of Mississippi has dug his heels in and proclaimed April to be “Confederate Her- itage Month” in the state.
Gov. Phil Bryant issued the proclamation in response to a request from the Sons of Con- federate Veterans, a group which is against changing the Mississippi state flag to remove the Confederate battle flag from it.
Bryant, a Republican who has served as governor since 2012, said in the order that “it is important for all Americans to reflect our nation’s past, to
gain insight
from our mis-
takes and suc-
cesses, and to
come to a full understanding
that the lessons
learned yester-
day and today
will carry us
through tomor-
row if we care-
fully and
earnestly strive
to understand
and appreciate our heritage and our opportunities which lie be- fore us.”Mississippi is the last state in the country to fly the Confederate battle flag above its state capitol.

possibility of parole, calling the teen “pure evil.”
Chism’s attorney argued during trial that Chism did, in fact, kill Ritzer, but that he was
suffering from a psychotic episode when he attacked her.
Chism’s mother, Diane, expressed her condolences to Ritzer’s family in a statement.
Hunters Capture 106 Pythons In Everglades
Klansman Stabs 3 At KKK Rally In California
Don’t get stuck in the Ever- glades!
Hunters captured 106 Burmese pythons during the 2016 Python Challenge, accord- ing to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commis- sion. Over 1,000 hunters partic- ipated in the state-sanctioned hunt, wildlife officials said Satur- day.
The longest snake was 15- feet, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission said on Twitter.
Burmese pythons have been living in the historic Everglades for at least two decades, estab- lishing breeding populations and spreading throughout South Florida’s state and federal pre- serves and parks.
The snakes can grow to 20 feet and eat and compete with endangered and threatened na- tive species.
The 2013 hunt drew more than 1,600 hunters, who cap- tured and killed 68 snakes. Some people refrained from hunting in 2013 because they did not want to kill the snakes, which was a requirement at the time.
This year, though, hunters could capture the snakes, dou- ble-bag them, put them in a la- beled, heavy-duty box and drop the live snakes off at state hunt check stations.
There is a growing market for Burmese pythons caught in the Everglades. Brian Wood, owner of All American Alligator in Hollywood, makes everything from Chuck Taylor style tennis shoes to full-length python skin pants.
While these large constric- tors are thriving in the Ever- glades, this species is endangered in most of its home range in Southeast Asia.
ANAHEIM, CA -- At least three people were stabbed, one critically, near a planned Ku Klux Klan (KKK) rally Saturday in Southern California, police said.
The violence erupted between KKK members and counter-protesters in Anaheim, about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles.
An unidentified Klan member was in custody after the attack, which left three counter-protest- ers stabbed.
A Klan member was stomped by counter-pro- testers during the flareup, Wyatt said. Three peo- ple were detained in that altercation.
The altercation occurred shortly after several Klan members arrived at a park for a planned rally.
Witnesses said a peaceful counter-protest had been under way for about three hours when the Klansmen arrived in a black sport utility vehicle. After three men left the SUV and began to unload signs, about 50 counter-protesters rushed over, throwing sticks and yelling, witnesses said.
