Black Female Leaders March To Senate Leader’s Office In Protest Of Loretta Lynch
First Lady Says ‘Black Girls Rock’; Show Airs April 7th On BET
LORETTA LYNCH ...President Obama’s nominee for Attorney General
We will not be moved, we will not go back, we will not stop," said Dr. Barbara Williams- Skinner as she led a prayer outside the door of the U. S. Capitol office of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R- Ky.) as staff and U. S. Capitol police officers stirred nearby.
About 20 prominent Black women arrived at McConnell’s office Thursday morning, asking to meet with him—even if for only a few minutes in the hall- way—over the delay in confirm- ing Attorney General-designate Loretta Lynch.
They were told McConnell was too busy. The women did meet with McConnell's chief
of staff for about 20 minutes. The group that arrived at his door included Williams-Skin- ner; attorney Barbara Arn- wine, president of the Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights; Melanie Campbell, president of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation; Sheila Tyson, a city council- woman from Birmingham, Ala.; and Marcia Dyson, CEO of the
Women's Global Initiative. They asserted that the treat- ment of Lynch was a double standard rarely if ever applied to any other nominee for attorney general. Lynch, a career prose- cutor who earned a degree from
Harvard Law in 1984, has al- ready been confirmed by the Senate twice before. If con- firmed currently, Lynch would be the first African-American fe- male attorney general of the 82 individuals who have been con- firmed over 225 years.
Lynch has now waited longer for confirmation than any other attorney general nom- inee in 31 years, and longer than the last five nominees com- bined. The average wait time for an attorney general nominee is 18 days. Lynch, who has nomi- nated by President Barack Obama on Nov. 8, has now waited 138 days.
Boehner Claims Trip To Israel Planned Before White House’s Rift With Prime Minister
John Boehner is at it again. Totally disrespecting President Obama.
House Speaker John Boehner said his upcoming trip to Israel is no "victory lap" to celebrate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's re- election -- and that it was planned months ago, before the Israeli election.
The Ohio Republican will travel to Israel this week, while Congress is on recess. He said his plans were made before the rift between Netanyahu and President Barack Obama over how to deal with Iran and Palestine burst into the open.
"There are serious issues and activities going on in the Middle East and I think it's critically im- portant for members of Con- gress to hear from foreign leaders, other governments, other parts of their government, to get a real handle on the chal- lenges that we face there," Boehner said on CNN Sunday.

First Lady Michelle Obama mixed her message of education for girls with one of empowerment for Black women, declaring 'Black girls rock!' at the an- nual awards show of the same name.
The First Lady wasn't one of the honorees Saturday night, but was the most heralded participant at the 5th annual event. It honored Jada Pinkett Smith, Erykah Badu, Cicely Tyson, Ava DuVernay, Nadia Lopez and Helene Gayle.
Mrs. Obama told the audience, which included many young Black girls, to ignore voices that suggested that they were 'not good enough.'
She celebrated the achievement of three young Black women also honored and said education was the

key to their success.
Mrs. Obama went to
Princeton and Harvard. She said she wouldn't be where she was had she not taken her studies seriously and im- plored young Black people to do the same.
The awards show will air on BET on April 7th.

President’s Personal Information Shared
President Barack Obama's passport number and personal de- tails were accidentally revealed — along with those of other world lead- ers — by Australia's immigration agency, according to The Guardian newspaper.
It was reported Monday that an immigration department officer in- advertently sent the personal details of leaders attending last Novem- ber's G-20 summit to organizers of the Asian Cup football tournament. The immigration department then recommended against informing those affected about the privacy breach, according to the newspaper.
President Obama, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ger- man Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron were among the world leaders whose details were shared in the mix-up. Their offices were not available for comment.

FORT PIERCE, FLA. —
President Barack Obama
kicked off the spring season on Saturday with a weekend golf getaway in Florida at the resort where he once caused a stir by playing with Tiger Woods.

BOSTON — When senators convene in the Senate chamber Monday to honor the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, it won't be in Washington.
Instead, Vice President Joe Biden will preside over a full-size replica Senate chamber at the Edward M. Kennedy Insti- tute for the United States Senate in Boston, with current and for- mer senators at their desks, high school students on the floor and Kennedy family members in the gallery.
The institute opens Monday with a dedication speech by President Obama and a who's who of Massachusetts politi- cians, United States senators and Kennedy kin.
Dreamed up by Kennedy himself seven years before he died of brain cancer in 2009, the institute was shepherded into existence by his widow, Victo-

ria Reggie Kennedy. Its mis- sion: to immerse visitors in the experience of being a senator — debating the great issues in the nation's history, visiting a fac- simile of Kennedy's Senate of- fice, and sneaking sweets from the "candy desk."
