Jury Convicts Man Of Trafficking In Deadly Drug
Earlier this week, a Tampa man entered a guilty plea in a 2016 murder. He will spend the remainder of his life in prison.
Keith Earl Davis is ac- cused of torturing and killing a hospice nurse William Leslie McGoff in 2016. His first-degree murder trial was set to begin on August 4th.
The State was prepared to seek the death penalty against Davis. By accepting an offer from the State to plead guilty and accept responsibility for his crime, he will receive a sen- tence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
The agreement respects the wishes of McGoff’s family by avoiding the painful experi- ence of reliving the murder during a trial as well as the un- certainty of the outcome.
Davis and McGoff, who was 53 at the time, had met be- fore, and Davis admitted to investigators that on Decem- ber 11, 2016, he went to Mc- Goff’s house with plans to rob McGoff. The autopsy results showed that McGoff was re- strained, stabbed, and tortured

Davis then took several valuables from McGoff’s home, including his car and fled the state. After a five-day manhunt, investigators tracked Davis down and cap- tured him in a small town near the Louisiana-Texas border.
Davis was charged with premeditated first-degree murder, armed robbery, and grand theft motor vehicle. His guilty plea applies to all the pending charges and guaran-

tees he will never be free again. State Attorney Andrew Warren said, “Leslie was a wonderful man, who dedicated his life to helping others. That great legacy should not be erased by the terrible way his life ended. We’ve now been able to guarantee justice for him, and no appeals or techni- calities will ever be able to take that away.
“Our entire community can rest easier knowing this killer will be behind bars until the day he dies.”
