Man Pleads Guilty To Drug-Related Death
Man Sentenced For Passing Counterfeit Money
Last week, a federal judge sentenced a Tampa man for passing counterfeit currency. He pleaded guilty on January 28, 2021.
Federal Judge Steven D. Merryday handed down a prison sentence of five years and four months to 50-year- old Keith Angaran. He was charged with conspiracy to make and pass counterfeit Federal Reserve notes and for making counterfeit Federal Reserve notes.
According to court records, beginning as early as December 2016 through Feb- ruary 2020, Angaran was the ringleader of a conspiracy that made and passed coun- terfeit currency at locations across Tampa Bay.
Law enforcement first identified the conspiracy in June 2019 after a co-conspir- ator had passed a counterfeit bill at a thrift shop in Tampa. In total, the conspirators passed counterfeit bills more than 1,000 times for a total loss of $135,010.
In February 2020, law en- forcement executed a search warrant at Angaran’s resi- dence and discovered that he was making and printing the counterfeit bills at his resi- dence.
Angaran later admitted that he had taught his con- spirators how to make and pass counterfeit bills.
On February 18, 2021, Judge Merryday sentenced Christina Shante Perez, one of Angaran’s co-con- spirators, to three years’ im- prisonment for making and passing counterfeit bills.

A Wesley Chapel man pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl to an individual, re- sulting in that individual’s death. He faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 20 years, and up to life, in fed- eral prison.
A sentencing date for 27- year-old Jared Collins has not been scheduled.
According to the plea agreement, on December 16, 2019, Collins distributed narcotics to an individual in Wesley Chapel. The person then injected the narcotics into his body with fatal re- sults.
