Quarrel Leads Man To Fatally Shoot Himself
Wrong-Way Driver Arrested After Crash
     A Plant City man shot himself last Thursday after seeing his former girlfriend talking to police.
The incident took place at a Circle K Store, near State Road 60 and Howard Av- enue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 27-year- old Tampa woman contacted police around 8:45 a.m., Thursday. The unidentified woman told police she was being followed by her former boyfriend.
The woman exited I-275 and met Florida Highway Pa-
trol troopers at the Circle K location. While she was talk- ing to the officers, her former boyfriend arrived and parked across the street at the car- wash.
Police said when the man realized she was talking with law enforcement, the man produced a handgun and shot himself in the chest. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. He later died from his injury.
Investigators have not identified either party in- volved in the incident and the investigation is continuing.
A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged after being involved in a wrong- way accident. The incident took place shortly before 6:30 a.m., on Interstate 4.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a white 2011 Dodge Journey, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Inter- state 4. As the driver neared the 3 mile post, a westbound vehicle took evasive action to avoid being involved in a col- lision.
The wrong-way driver then collided with a highway barrier wall. A short distance away, another vehicle took evasive action to avoid a

crash. When the vehicle neared the 6 mile post, the driver caused a third mo- torist to take evasive actions. However, that vehicle also crashed into a highway bar-
rier wall.
Without stopping, the
driver continued until he nearly reached County Line Road. At that point, he was stopped by Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies.
The driver was identified as Terrence Murphy, of Tampa. He was taken into custody and charged with several counts of DUI prop- erty damage, leaving the scene of a crash with prop- erty damage, leaving the scene of a crash with injury, reckless driving with prop- erty damage, and driving in the wrong direction.
The investigation is con- tinuing.
Woman Trapped Under Stolen Car After Crash
   A juvenile teenager in- volved in an accident fled the scene after crashing the vehi- cle. The incident took place Monday afternoon.
According to Tampa Po- lice, officers observed a 2013 gray Hyundai Genesis that had been reported stolen in the area of E. 26th Avenue and N. 29th Street, shortly before 4 p.m.
The unidentified driver was traveling at a high rate of speed, but the officers did not pursue the vehicle.
The stolen vehicle then ran a stop sign at the corner of N. 28th Avenue and struck a 2005 Jeep Liberty in the in- tersection of E. 26th Avenue and N. 28th Street. The Jeep flipped over after the colli- sion. It was occupied by a woman, a female adult pas- senger, and a child.
The female passenger was ejected from the vehicle and landed under the overturned Jeep. Police and Good Samar- itans provided assistance to the accident victims. Mem- bers of the community and officers worked together to lift the vehicle and free the woman trapped underneath. She was then transported to a local hospital with non-life

After the crash, the driver
of the vehicle, described only as a Black male, fled the scene on foot. Police are continuing their investigation.
