Tampa Police Chief Appoints New Media Relations Staff

Recently, Tampa Police
Chief Brian Duggan
hired two individuals to serve as staff members of its Media Relations Office. The two are filling vacan- cies created by the promo- tion of Ms. Janelle McGregor and the depar- ture of Stephen Hagerty.
Chief Dugan said, “I'm excited to have both Jamel and Vanessa as part of our Media Relations Office. They both bring a wealth of experience to the depart- ment that will ensure we are continuing to take steps toward transparency and effectively communicating with the public.”
Ms. Lanee’ will serve as the department’s Public Information Officer. Her duties will include leading the Department's internal and external communica- tions efforts.

spokesperson for the agency include developing communications strategies to bolster the department's relationship with the media and the public.
Prior to joining the po- lice department, Ms. Lanee’ worked as a re- porter and fill-in anchor for WFLA-News Channel 8. She worked in several top media markets before mov- ing to the Tampa Bay area.
Ms. Lanee’ was born in Philadelphia and moved to Florida at a young age. She is a proud graduate of the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.

Ms. Nettingham, a former TV producer, will manage social media and community engagement for the department.
She will work alongside Jamel Lanee' and Assis- tant Public Information Of- ficer Eddy Durkin as the department's new So- cial Media and Community Engagement Coordinator.
She plans to broaden the department's reach on social media with com- pelling content, while work- ing on initiatives to help bridge the gap between the Tampa Police Depart- ment and the residents the

A nine-year media vet-
eran, Ms. Nettingham FYI
has held positions with WTSP-10 News and WFTS- ABC Action News. Prior to join- ing television news, she worked in sports radio with iHeart Media in Den-
verM. s. Nettingham was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. She attended Colorado State University, where she majored in Jour- nalism and Speech Com- munications.
Chief Dugan said he looks forward to working with the two new additions to the communications team.
Tampa Housing Waiting Lists To Close
The Tampa Housing Authority announced that their waiting list for subsidized housing will close on Monday, De- cember 16, 2019.
The list closing will affect all project based and rental as- sistance programs.
