Detectives Investigate Home Invasion Homicide
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that on July 11th at 11:06 p.m., three armed suspects approached a mobile home at 219 Bywater Drive and confronted the indi- viduals that were inside and outside of the mobile home.
Detectives said while inside the residence the victim, Amari Martinez, 25, was shot and later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives said they do not believe the incident was ran- dom and the only description they have is that all three sus- pects were armed during the in- cident.
The investigation is ongoing.
Teenager Charged With Sex Crime On 3-Year-Old
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office reports that a teenager has been arrested for allegedly raping a 3-year-old at a day- care center operated at his home.
Lucius Isaiah Gibson, 16, is accused of sexually molest- ing the child at his mother’s in- home daycare, Thomas Gibson Family Day Care.
The alleged abuse happened during nap time, documents from the Pasco County Sher- iff’s Office show.
The mom’s daycare passed an inspection as recently as April.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office documents say the teen used nap time because it was a moment when the children were unsupervised.
The investigation began when the victim told her par- ents what happened.
Investigators said four chil- dren, both boys and girls, were allegedly molested by the teenager. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is considering filing neglect charges against the teen’s mom who has not been identfied.
Other parents who had chil- dren at this daycare are asked to come forward with any per- tinent information.
LUCIUS GIBSON
Gibson had a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon. A judge ruled the 16-year-old would be held for another 21 days during the investigation. Meanwhile, the daycare has been shut down for 90 days.
This is not the first time this daycare has been investigated. In 2013, Pasco detectives checked out similar accusa- tions involving a toddler. The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office says investigators called the Child Abuse Hotline. Investi- gators did not disclose whether Gibson was suspect in that alleged offense.
The case was not prosecuted because investigators did not feel they had enough evidence.

Armed Robbery Suspect Sought
Ex-Corrections Deputy Charged With Bank Robbery
Earlier this year, a woman entered a Plant City bank and robbed it at gunpoint. The rob- bery took place on February 10, 2016.
According to police, the woman entered the Sunshine Bank, 2400 James L. Ray- mond Parkway, on February 9th and met with the Branch Manager. She told the man- ager she was interested in pur- chasing a large tract of land in the Dade City area.
The following day, at ap- proximately 4:30 p.m., she re- turned to the bank and again met with the Bank Manager and had another lengthy con- versation about financial serv- ices.
After the bank closed at 5 p.m., there were only two em- ployees in the bank. She asked to use the bathroom shortly before 5:30 and was escorted to the bathroom. The woman then asked to say goodbye to the other employee. Once both employees were together, the woman pulled the handgun from her purse and told the employees not to activate the alarm system.
She then ordered the em- ployees into the vault and forced them to open the safe. She obtained $110,000 and duct-taped the two employees before fleeing the scene.
ELIZABETH BROOKS PERKINS
One of the employees chewed through the tape and freed herself and her co- worker. They then contacted police.
In June, a concerned citi- zen contacted police and pro- vided information pertaining to the robbery. The informa- tion led them to Ms. Eliza- beth Brooks Perkins, 46, of Brooksville. She was taken into custody on July 7th and charged with armed bank rob- bery and carrying and possess- ing a firearm during and in furtherance of a crime of vio- lence.
If convicted and given the maximum sentence, Ms. Perkins could face life in prison.
The St. Petersburg Police De- partment is asking for help in identifying an armed robber who held up Teresa’s Food Mart, 2601 30th Avenue, North on July 11th.
Detectives said at 2:30 p.m., a masked man entered the store and demanded money. He reportedly pointed a gun at two store employees and made threatening statements. He then left the store with money.
No one was injured and there were no customers in the store at the time.
Anyone with information is asked to call (727) 893-7780.
