Hillsborough Commissioners Seek Applications for the Diversity Advisory Council - Applications due July 28, 2016.
Hillsborough County Commissioners are seeking interested residents to serve on the Diversity Advisory Council. The Council was created to facilitate communication between Hillsborough County government and diverse populations, and to address matters related to diversity that affect County government and its citizens. The Council is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and is comprised of two individuals from each of the following categories: African American; Caribbean; Far East Asian; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender; Hispanic/Latino; Indian Asian; Middle Eastern; Native American; Northern and Southern European; People with Disabilities; and At-Large (Identification with a specific category is not required).
Fourteen seats are available. Positions are specified as individuals from the following categories: African-American; Caribbean; Far East Asian; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender; Hispanic/Latino; Indian Asian; Middle Eastern; Native American; Northern and Southern European; People with Disabilities; and At-large.
All nominees must reside and be registered voters in Hillsborough County. Appointments are voluntary positions; therefore, members serve without compensation. Eleven positions have two year terms. Three positons have a one year term.
The deadline to apply is July 28, 2016. Citizens interested in being considered for appointment must submit: an essay of 200-500 words highlighting what your goals would be as a member of the Diversity Advisory Council and state why you are most suited to carry forth those goals; a completed Questionnaire for County Appointments - Diversity Advisory Council and a Standards of Conduct Form. All questions must be answered. Applicants declining to submit an essay will be eliminated from further consideration for service on the Diversity Advisory Council of Hillsborough County.

Appointments will be scheduled for a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners in August.

TAMPA HILLSBOROUGH EXPRESSWAY AUTHORITY REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS ~ RFP NO. O-01016 DESIGN/BUILD – DEPUTY JOHN KOTFILA MEMORIAL DOG PARK
(RAYMOND STREET DOG PARK)
Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) is soliciting responses from firms licensed, qualified and interested in performing design/build services for the project entitled “Design/Build – Deputy John Kotfila Memorial Dog Park (Raymond Street Dog Park).” Services include design, permitting, construction and performing all other services necessary for a Dog Park located along the Selmon Greenway Trail, adjacent to Raymond Street and under a section of the Selmon Expressway between Twiggs Street and 12th Street. Project site is located in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida. The project will be constructed within existing right-of-way and includes landscaping, hardscaping, architectural treatments, and utility adjustments.
The project shall include a memorial to fallen Deputy John Kotfila, separate small and large dog areas separated by appropriate fencing, a Bike Repair Station, and other amenities as shown in the Concept Plans prepared by the City of Tampa Parks & Recreation Department and the General Engineering Consultant for THEA. The project will also be constructed to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and provide connectivity to the Selmon Greenway alignment. Coordination with the City of Tampa, utility owners, and others having interests in the project area shall be the responsibility of the design/build firm. Any necessary state and local permits will be the responsibility of the design/build firm to identify permits needed, prepare permit applications in coordination with THEA and payment of associated fees. THEA will provide final review and approval of all permit applications and information prior to be submitted to permitting authorities.
A Non-Mandatory Pre-Proposal Conference will be held July 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the THEA Board Room on the 1st floor of the Transportation Management Center located at 1104 East Twiggs Street, Tampa, Florida 33602. Prospective Respondents are encouraged to attend.
Interested firms will obtain a copy of the RFQ Instructions and Submittal Documents and submit a completed Response Package Step 1 to THEA at 1104 East Twiggs Street, Suite 300, Tampa, Florida 33602. Response Packages for Step 1 are due by 2:00 p.m., August 5, 2016 at which time THEA will publicly open the responses.
Firms failing to submit the required RFP Documents and Forms may be deemed non-responsive to the RFP. The Schedule of Events containing additional important deadlines for this RFP is located in the RFP Instructions and Submittal Documents at Section A, Paragraph 1.4. The RFP Instructions and Submittal Documents are available through the Demandstar System (www.demandstar.com) or through an email request to Man.Le@tampa-xway.com. RESPONDENTS WHO OBTAIN THE RFP INSTRUCTIONS AND SUBMITTAL DOCUMENTS FROM SOURCES OTHER THAN CITED ABOVE ARE CAUTIONED THAT THE DOCUMENTS MAY BE INCOMPLETE.
