  Groundbreaking Ceremony Planned For ‘Renaissance At West Tampa’

The Tampa Housing Au- thority will host a ground- breaking ceremony for the first building on the site of the North Boulevard Homes. The ceremony for the struc- ture, known as Renaissance at West Tampa, will take place at 10 a.m., at the corner of Main Street and N. Rome Avenue.
Upon completion, the new building will consist of 6-floors. It will offer 120 af- fordable, residential homes for senior citizens. All fami- lies residing in the building will have an income level 60% below the median in- come of the area. The first floor will offer retail shops. It is the first of 3 buildings slated for the property.

  and President of the Tampa Housing Authority said, “This monumental ground-
breaking ceremony signifies the rebirth of this West Tampa site that will create a true center city designed to support a diverse, multi-gen- erational mixed use, mixed- income community that will seamlessly integrate into the nearby West Tampa area and support the greater develop- ment needs of this commu- nity”.
Upon completion, The West River community will provide: 1,240 market-rate for rent apartments, 96 for-
sale townhomes, 90,000 square feet of retail, and 70,000 square feet of office space.
Leroy Moore, COO of the Tampa Housing Author- ity said, “The families living here will include public housing, Section 8, and tax credit families. It will offer 1 and 2 bedroom apartments.”
He further said the design of the building will be mod- ern with West Tampa char- acter. “This is the beginning of revitalization of the North
Boulevard community. We are thrilled with the start of this project.”
The project, which will begin construction next month, is expected to be completed in the next 18 months.
Moore said the second building has also been fully funded. In addition to this project, the Mary McLeod Bethune Hi-Rise will be ren- ovated as well.
The groundbreaking cer- emony is open to the public.
