Lakeland Preparing To Honor Its 2018 Hall Of Famer

Ray Lewis will be cel- ebrated at his high school, Kathleen High in Lakeland
The City of Lakeland and Polk County are gear- ing up for a weekend cele- bration for its hometown hero, Ray Lewis.
Lewis was recently in- ducted into the 2018 Class of Hall of Famers for the National Football League.
A graduate of Kathleen High School, Lewis fur- thered his education at the University of Miami, where he was a stalwart player, who spent 17 years (his entire NFL career) with the Baltimore Ravens.
The celebration in his honor will be held Friday and Saturday, August 24th and 25th.
The Hall of Fame Weekend Celebration of events will kick off Friday morning with the Hall of Fame Celebrity Golf Tour-
Bob Donahay, Pat Lin- desmith, Michelle Norris, Brittany Shankel, Kent McAl- lister, Kay Fields, and Jacqueline Byrd.
The Hall of Famer, who wore #52, will speak to the fans and then he’ll present 52 scholarships to Polk County students.

Moss, who was en- shrined with Lewis, Willie Horton and Jake Woods of the De- troit Tigers are expected to join Lewis on Satur- day.

According to Clint Glover, one of those in- volved in planning the event, some of the celebrity golfers expected to participate are: Lewis’ former Ravens teammate, Ed Reed, former college teammate, Warren Sapp, retired Major League Baseball player, Gary Sheffield and
Cecil Fisher of the Tigers.
Saturday, August 25, is filled with dedication events. There will be a rib- bon cutting at Douglas Cook Park, followed by the celebration at Kath- leen High School Stadium at2p.m.
Stacy Campbell- Domineck will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the program. Among those expected to take part in the program are: Jazmin Ghent, Bill Mutz, Tony Delgado,
