Charleston 9 Shooter Is Attacked In Jail
Dylann Roof fatally shot 9 A.M.E. church members in Charleston in 2015. He was at- tacked by Dwayne Stafford at the detention center where he is being held. Stafford has been released since the inci- dent.
CHARLESTON, SC -- The South Carolina inmate who al- legedly attacked accused Charleston 9 shooter posted bond nearly 18 months after his initial arrest. According to reports, Dwayne Stafford was released from the Charleston County Detention Center 24 hours after news broke he punched Dylann Storm Roof near the shower area.
The 26-year-old was in prison when he was arrested on first-degree assault and rob- bery charges. Records don’t show who put up the $100,000 bond, but after the bathroom incident, Stafford supporters launched a fundraiser page to donate to his commissary.
News of Stafford’s assault on Roof hit the Internet the same day many learned George Zimmerman was punched in the face after brag- ging about killing Trayvon Martin. Roof has been held in protective custody and was taking a solo shower when guards momentarily left their post, which was when Stafford bolted down a flight of stairs and attacked Roof.
Roof faces several hate crimes and nine murder charges after he killed parish- ioners inside Charleston, South Carolina’s historical Emanuel AME Church.
Preach...Child...Preach:
CARROLTON, GA --- Be- cause police believe that a Gerogia father was drunk when he left his 15-month-old twin girls in a hot car on Thursday, they are charging him in their deaths.
Asa North, 24, faces two counts of involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct for leaving his children unattended in a car.
Weather.com notes that tem- peratures in Carrollton, Ga., reached a high of 90 degrees that day—but temperatures in- side a closed car can shoot into the 100s.
Carrollton police said that 15- month-old twin daughters, Ariel Roxanne North and Alaynah Maryanne North
were found unresponsive after neighbors called 911 on Thurs- day evening after hearing screaming and yelling.
Officers arrived at the com- plex to find the twins out of the car and in a kiddie pool, where their father was trying to revive them. Frantic neighbors tried to lower their body tempera- tures using ice packs, but police said it was too late.
The twins were taken to Tan- ner Medical Center in Carroll- ton where they were both pronounced dead.
The twins’ mother was re- portedly at Grady Hospital in Atlanta visiting a relative dur- ing the incident but is said to be back in town.
ORANGE, NJ --- The Inter- net went wild last Tuesday (August 2) over a 10-year-old motivational speaker who of- fered an insightful perspective on what truly matters in life.
In a black-and-white video that’s making the rounds on- line, Nyeeam Hudson known on Instagram as King Nahh, recounts a situation in which he was teased for wear- ing FILA sneakers to the park as opposed to the more popu- lar shoes kids his age wears. Instead of cowering to the taunts of the other kids, Nyeem delivered a powerful message .
“So I told the kid, it’s not about what I have on my feet, it’s about what I have inside my head,” the Orange NJ 10- year-old said. “No matter what
Nyeeam ‘King Nahh’ Hud- son, 10, is a motivational speaker. He uses his young ex- periences to inspire others to change their mindset.
I’m wearing, what I have on it’s about my information, the knowledgable things in life. These sneakers are not even going to fit you 20 years from now.”

Teens Hired On The Spot After Asking For Jobs To Avoid Being In A Gang
Dylik, Dennis, Deion and Jalen asked the Housing Au- thority maintenance manager about a job. He directed them to the CEO and she hired them on the spot.
#MoveYourMoney: Over 8,000 Transfer Money to Black-Owned Atlanta Bank, More Following Suit
The campaign to empower the black community by investing in our banks is gaining traction in cities like Atlanta, Chicago and others. African Americans heeding the #MoveYourMoney call and investing in a black-owned bank in Mobile, Ala., July, 2016.
LAGRANGE, GA --- Four Georgia teens are receiving a virtual standing ovation from the Internet after Zsa Zsa Heard praised their tenacity on Facebook. The LaGrange Housing Authority CEO up- loaded a photo of the young men after they walked into her office and asked for a job to avoid gangs.
Determined not to allow these young men to fall peril to gang life, Heard hired them on the spot. Since Wednesday, (July 27), the young men, Dylik, Dennis, Deion and
Jalen, all between the ages of 13 and 14 have been keeping busy by passing out mail, working in the community garden, learning how to build things and helping out in the kitchen.
“The street will not have our children,” Heard wrote on Facebook.
The teens are heading back to school this week, however, Heard has placed them in a Leadership Program and will allow them to still work around their school schedules.
Over 8,000 people in At- lanta have joined Solange Knowles and moved their money to a black owned bank.
The #MoveYourMoney cam- paign has gained prominence and traction in the days since the heinous police shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.
Many African Americans frustrated by repeated police killings of unarmed Black men and the ringing lack of justice against those who perpetrate the acts are searching for ways to empower their community and fight back. And as Martin Luther King Jr. once said, the best way to fight this sys- tem is to break its capitalist back.
In an excerpt from his fa- mous 1968 “I’ve Been To The Mountaintop” speech --- his last before his assassination --- Dr. King had this to say about investment in ourselves:
“Now the other thing we’ll have to do is this: Always an- chor our external direct action with the power of economic withdrawal ... we’ve got to
strengthen black institutions. I call upon you to take your money out of the banks down- town and deposit your money in Tri-State Bank. We want a “bank-in” movement in Mem- phis. Go by the savings and loan association. I’m not ask- ing you something that we don’t do ourselves at SCLC. Judge Hooks and others will tell you that we have an ac- count here in the savings and loan association from the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. We are telling you to follow what we are doing. Put your money there ... Now these are some practical things that we can do.”
And to that end, nearly 50 years later, African Ameri- cans are starting to heed his word.
11 Alive Atlanta is reporting that in just five days, 8,000 people submitted applications to join a historic Black-owned bank, Citizens Trust Bank, in the city.
There are also reports of the same in cities like Chicago and others posted on social media in recent days.
