Woman Seeks To Help Others Re-Enter Society
CELESTE WELLS
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
Ms. Celeste Wells
knows from experience about re-entering society. Having been incarcerated herself, she now seeks to help others.
As a member of the Dig- nity Act & Reform organiza- tion, and Ladies of Hope Ministry, based in New York, Ms. Wells said, “My goal is to help formerly incarcerated, but recently released women get re-established. Appear- ance makes a big difference in the way they view themselves as they prepare to re-enter society.”
She hopes to establish a network that would connect women with all facets, includ- ing dressing, makeup, hair- styles, employment and housing.
Ms. Wells said she is se- rious about the help she is of- fering and wants to connect with women who are serious about their re-entry process.
“By partnering with other organizations, we can meet the needs of these women. God has blessed me and I want to be an advocate for women re-entering society,” she said.
One of the ways she cred- its God is with her invention of a product known as “Save My Edges.” The product is designed to help female can- cer patients who may have lost their hair during the treatment process. However, any woman who has lost her edges can benefit from the product.
She recalls when the idea came to her. “I woke up at 5 a.m., one morning and it came to me through the Holy Spirit. I immediately woke and proceeded to get a pa- tient for this new product.”
