Andre White Hospitalized With COVID-19
ANDRE MOSES WHITE
BY GWEN HAYES Sentinel Editor
Former Tampa resident, Andre Moses White, is currently in an Atlanta area hospital suffering from COVID-19, and pneumonia.
His son, Andre, better known as “Lucky,” said Tuesday morning that the fam- ily, which is now quarantined, spoke with his father’s Infectious Disease doctor earlier for an update.
“He gave us some encouraging news. He told us that our father does not need a breath- ing apparatus; his spirits are good; and so is his appetite.
“Whenever someone gets sick, he says ‘you need to practice your breathing.’ I told him it’s
on him now.
“The one thing that kind of threw him for a
loop is that 2 people on his floor died and one of them was only 40 years old,” “Lucky” said. “We all know that he loves having people around him, and none of us can be there.”
He added that his dad went into the hospi- tal with a temperature of 103 degrees and pneumonia. Over the last 3 weeks he had lost 10 pounds.
Lucky said the family is doing well with the news. His mother, Joyce, was a bit upset at first, knowing that the family could not be with him and he usually doesn’t like being alone – he wants the family there.
“Right now, he’s engaging the nurses, doc- tors and anyone on his floor that will listen,” he said.
“We want the community to know that he is fighting and we’re asking for prayers. We knew he was doing OK when he asked my sis- ter to post something on Facebook.”
White’s daughter (Lucky’s sister), Raquel (Rock White) posted on Facebook the following information:
“Those who know me know that I come from a praying family. We really need your prayers and positive vibes. Today (Monday, March 23rd), my father (Andre Moses White) was diagnosed with Coronavirus COVID-19. This will be an uphill battle with his other health challenges. The rest of our family (including me) are in self-quarantine to ensure that we are not spreading the virus. We know that God answers prayers and we are asking you for your prayers of healing and love. Thank you.”
