Teenagers Arrested After Chase Ends With Stolen Car In Retention Pond
Inmate Accused Of Attacking Detention Deputy

A Hillsborough County Jail inmate is facing addi- tional charges after he al- legedly attacked a detention deputy. The inmate is said to have attempted to strangle the deputy.
According to the Hillsbo- rough County Sheriff’s Office, around 12:3o p.m., Tuesday Detention Deputy D. Her- nandez was walking in the jail pod on Falkenburg Road with approximately 72 in- mates.
For no apparent reason, Kiondre Zachary, 23, of St. Petersburg, reportedly ap- proached Deputy Hernan- dez from behind, wrapped a cloth towel around his neck, and attempted to strangle him. Deputy Hernandez was able to escape from Zachary.
The deputy, accompanied by other inmates, was able to subdue Zachary. Zachary was not injured, and was transferred to an isolation cell, police said.
Deputy Hernandez,
who has been employed for 10 months at the jail, suffered a twisted ankle, bruised knee, and abrasions on his neck as a result of the attack.
Zachary was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.
According to the Hillsbo- rough County Sheriff’s Office website, Zachary was ar- rested on September 17, 2016 and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling with as- sault.
The website further shows the deposition of the case was to the Florida State Hospital because he was found incom- petent on January 30th. He was committed to Florida State Hospital on the same day of the attack.
16-Year-Old Charged With Robbing Convenience Store With Shotgun

Two teenagers were ar- rested after leading police on a chase. They were captured after the stolen vehicle they were driving ended up in a retention pond.
Tampa Police responded to an armed robbery at the Citgo, 2610 N. 40th Street shortly after 10 p.m., Tues- day. The caller said the sus- pects had fired shots during the commission of the rob- bery.
As the suspects fled the scene, they drove past offi- cers en route to the crime traveling in the wrong direc- tion on E. Columbus Drive. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle turned south on N. 31st Street off of Columbus Drive. It then turned back eastbound on E. 15th Avenue, police said.
The officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but were un- successful. The vehicle trav- eled 2 more blocks before it went into a retention pond.
Police arrested 17-year- old Rakeem Ishmar, inside the retention pond area. Javone Nall, 18, fled through the retention pond and went westbound on N. 32nd Street. He was arrested as he attempted to escape the perimeter established by the officers with K-9 and Air

During the investigation,
police recovered the vehicle that had been stolen from Lakeland. They found a Glock 36 semi-auto handgun that had been used in the robbery, money from the rob- bery, and a purse that had been taken from an unre- ported auto burglary in Dade City.
Mutasem Elbooz, 44, the clerk on duty at the Citgo Gas Station positively identi- fied the teenagers as the per- sons who had robbed him. The Dade City teenagers ad- mitted to committing the robbery as well as a robbery at the Kwik Stop, 6121 N. Florida Avenue. They also ad- mitted to breaking into a car earlier in the evening.
Ishmar was charged with armed robbery, fleeing to elude, grand theft auto, auto burglary, and being a minor in possession of a firearm. He was processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center and then transferred to the Juvenile Section of the Hillsborough County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Nall was charged with armed robbery and auto bur- glary. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail as well.
SPEEDWAY ROBBERY SUSPECT
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a teenager and charged him with the armed robbery of a convenience store. A 16-year- old was taken into custody Wednesday morning.
The most recent robbery of the Speedway Gas Station, 13179 S. Highway 301, oc- curred on February 21st, at 3:23 a.m. An unknown sus- pect entered the business armed with a shotgun or sim- ilar type weapon. He ap- proached the clerk and demanded money from the register. The suspect then fled with the case. Police de- termined that he was possibly heading toward The Grove at South Shore Apartment Complex.

shirt, blue pants, gloves and an orange “Five Nights At Freddy’s” fox mask.
This was the third time the business had been robbed this year. Detectives believe the same person was respon- sible for two robberies on January 9th and January 18th.
The investigation into the robberies led police to 16- year-old Joshua Abdull McClain, of Plant City.
McClain was charged with 1 count of armed rob- bery. He was processed at the Juvenile Assessment Center and then transferred to the Juvenile Section of the Hills- borough County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
The investigation into the other two robberies at that lo- cation is continuing, police said.
