Described as "a safe space for Black women and others who embrace our mission," the historic university is in jeopardy of losing its' accreditation.
Bennett College, one of only two existing women-only HBCUs in existence, is in jeop- ardy of losing its’ accredita- tion.
A recent assessment by the Southern Association of Col- leges and Schools has said that the university is “fiscally un- stable,” according to the school’s former president, Ju- lianne Malveaux. A total of $5 million is reportedly needed by February 1, 2019 in order to keep the school in good standing.
is HBCU
“Bennett College has a unique history, and it is a history that must be preserved,” Malveaux said in an open let- ter for Black Press USA. “It will only be maintained if folks who love women, women’s history, and the elevation of Black women’s voices come to- gether to find five million dol- lars in just a few weeks.”
Empire star Jussie Smol- lett, along with actor and pro- fessional chef Jake Smollett, are among those who have publicly joined the fight to save the invaluable HBCU.
The brothers recently took to social media to share a pic of themselves rocking matching #StandWithBennet t-shirts in an effort to help spread aware- ness and encourage those who can to donate to the cause.
“In the 1930s we had 121 #HBCUs now we’re at 101,” Jussie wrote in captions accompanying the photo on Twitter and Instagram. “Don’t let us be down to 100 if #Ben- nett-College,who has made the education of black women a priority since 1926, closes its doors.”

forcing other brands to fi- nally market to women they've neglected.
While Rih continues to drain our pockets with new
makeup palettes, lipsticks, highlights, and gloss, fans have begged for another album and wondered if Rih will ever get back in the stu- dio and create more tunes.
Under an Instagram post in which Rihanna promoted her newest lipstick shade Flamming Acid, someone asked: "But when is the new album dropping Robyn." Not thinking the Oceans 8 star saw the question or would even respond, Ri- hanna surprised everyone when she answered the ques- tion.
"2019," she posted.
Cardi B Reportedly Turns
Down Super Bowl Halftime
Show For Colin Kaepernick
As rumors and contro- versy continue to swirl around who's going to per- form at Super Bowl LIII, Cardi B has apparently re- moved her name from con- sideration due to the circumstances revolving around Colin Kaepernick.
Dismissing the notion that her reason was over a per- formance fee of a million dol- lars, a rep recently clarified her position to Page Six, highlighting the cause of so- cial justice as to why Cardi is walking away from the world's biggest stage.
“The rumor circulating that she wants a million dol- lars and her own set is false," the rep said in a statement, "there was never a firm offer to begin with for a perform- ance, there [were] talks about
