Dr. Martin Luther King Parade Foundation’s Annual
Fundraising Dinner And Gala Is Days Away
The Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. Parade Founda- tion’s third annual Black Tie Dinner & Gala is just around the corner. The January 10th event, themed “Purpose and Elegance,” is shaping up to be the best ever and tickets are still available.
The Parade Foundation continues its established tra- dition of honoring local com- munity heroes, those who have quietly, or not so quietly led the fight to improve lives in this community.
This year’s honorees in- clude: Dr. Glenn Dames, Jr., Pastor of Allen Temple A. M. E. Church; Ms. Yvette Lewis, President, Hillsbor- ough County Chapter,
NAACP; Mr. Ernest Coney, Jr., CEO of the CDC of Tampa, Inc.; and Mr. Marvin Knight, owner of Marvin’s Oriental Fish Mar- ket in East Tampa. “All have
an outstanding, unselfish legacy of serving our commu- nity and we are pleased and excited to honor them as well as tell their stories,” states Foundation Co-Chair, Howard Harris.
A special award of merit will be given to outgoing Mayor, Bob Buckhorn, whose leadership and sup- port for the MLK Day Parade
has been critical to the pa- rade’s growth and success over the years.
Finally, the Parade Foun- dation is thrilled to announce our 2019 MLK Day Parade Grand Marshals. The Foun- dation has selected Attor- ney Carolyn House Stewart, past International President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Dr.
Paulette C. Walker, past National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Foundation will also an- nounce this year’s scholar- ship winners and acknowledge sponsors and partners at the gala.
