Ex-School Worker Gets 16 Years For Sex With Student
Woman Wanted For Attempted Robbery
WALGREENS SUSPECT
Police are asking the public to help identify a woman who tried to rob a business. The in- cident happened on Tuesday.
According to the Clearwater Police Department, the woman entered the Walgreens, 703 Court Street, shortly after 7 a.m. She walked up to the checkout area and demanded money, stating that she had a gun. When the cashier told her there was no cash in the register, the woman left the store in a silver Honda CR-V. She got into the passenger side of the vehicle.
She is described as being 5’3” tall and was wearing a black dress with floral prints.

Man Arrested For String Of Gym Thefts
A former staff member at Fox Chapel Middle School has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. He accepted a plea deal.
Marcus Wells, of Spring Hill, was arrested in May 2017. According to police, Wells, 35, worked as a moni- tor in the school suspension room. He allegedly abused the student 8 times during a two- week period. The incidents took place between May 8 and
May 19, 2017.
Wells was hired in 2009
and worked as a custodian. In 2015, he became an in-school suspension monitor.
The mother of the student has filed a lawsuit claiming her

daughter required medical treatment and has suffered permanent or continuing in- juries and pain, “both physical and mental.”
The girl’s mother said the school board has a duty to rea- sonably supervise students.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with several charges. He is ac- cused of taking keys from gyms and then burglarizing cards.
According to the St. Pe- tersburg Police Department, Cody Heilig is facing several felony charges that include armed burglary, 2 counts of burglary of an auto, being a felon in possession of a firearm, 3 counts of fraudu- lent use of a credit count, and 3 counts of possession of a stolen credit card.
Detectives said during the last few weeks, a man entered local gyms and stole the keys to vehicles from the lockers. He then used the keys to enter cars and take credit cards and clothes.

Detectives with the St. Pe- tersburg Police Department and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s were able to identify him as Cody Heilig.
He is accused of commit- ted the offense at 3 gyms in St. Petersburg. The investiga- tion is continuing and more charges may be filed against him, police said.

Detectives with the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice are asking for assistance in locating two men. Both are listed as sex offender abscon- ders.
According to police, David Smith, 38, and Shane Smith, 41, are registered sex offenders.

Warrants have been issued for both men for failure to up- date his residential address within 48 hours of relocating.

Man Charged With
A 28-year-old Clearwater man was convicted for possess- ing firearms and ammunition. He is a convicted felon.
A federal jury has found
Johnnie Charles Grimsley, Jr., guilty of possessing firearms and ammunition dur- ing his trial this week. His sen- tencing date has been set for August 14, 2018.
Bank Robbery
Grimsley is facing a mini- mum mandatory penalty of 15 years, and up to life, in federal prison. He was indicted May 18, 2017.
According to evidence pre- sented at trial, on two separate occasions in November 2016, Grimsley and an accomplice sold guns and ammunition to an undercover detective in Pinellas County.
Grimsley did not physi- cally handle the firearms and ammunition during the deals; he had his accomplice handle them.
However, during both trans- actions, Grimsley said that he had obtained the firearms and ammunition, and he personally accepted the payment from the undercover detective during the second sale.
A 55-year-old man was ar- rested Wednesday and charged with bank robbery. The rob- bery took place Monday evening.
According to the Hillsbor- ough County Sheriff’s Office, Peter Gonzalez, of New Port Richey, entered the Wells Fargo Bank, 808 Pebble Beach Blvd., in Sun City Center.
The man passed a note to the teller. In the note, he de- manded that she stay quiet, and give him the money. He then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Gonzalez has also been linked to a robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank in Sarasota on May

3rd. Two other robberies took place on May 11th. Both the Bank of America and Wells Fargo Banks in Kissimmee were robbed by a man fitting his description.
