Rockets Reportedly Agree To Terms With Clint Capela
Seahawks Have No Intention Of Giving Earl Thomas New Contract
Earl Thomas has not re- ported to training camp with the Seattle Seahawks as he seeks either a new contract or a trade, and the team report- edly has no intention of cav- ing to his demands.
Thomas and his repre- sentatives were told prior to offseason workouts that the All-Pro safety’s contract will not be addressed whether he shows up to training camp or not.
Thomas is in the final season of a five-year deal and set to make $8.5 million this year before becoming a free agent. Given that he is 29 and has dealt with some injuries recently, he probably feels pressure to secure as much money as possible as he gets closer to the end of his career.
EARL THOMAS
The Seahawks have begun moving on from their “Legion of Boom” defense, so it makes sense that they don’t want to pay an older defensive back top dollar.
   CLINT CAPELA
The Houston Rockets have locked Clint Capela down long-term.
Capela and the Rockets have agreed to a five-year, $90 mil- lion deal, ending his status as a restricted free agent and locking him in through 2023.
Negotiations with Capela had at times been contentious, though it doesn’t sound like they had to bump their offer up too much to get this deal done. It will come as a massive relief to Houston, who really wanted to keep their forward, who is a rising talent and a key part of their success. He averaged a ca- reer-best 13.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game last season, leading the league with a .652 field goal percentage.

Carmelo Anthony Wants Hawks Jersey With His Name On It

CARMELO ANTHONY
Carmelo Anthony is hop- ing to commemorate his leg- endary career with the Atlanta Hawks.
Anthony was in attendance at USA Basketball minicamp on Friday and told veteran basket- ball writer Chris Sheridan that he was looking to cop a Hawks jersey with his name on the back of it.
There is, of course, some ironic humor involved here. By technicality, the ten-time All- Star was traded to Atlanta by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a salary-dumping move. He is ex- pected to be waived by the Hawks however and proceed to sign with the Houston Rockets, his preferred destination.
Anthony probably won’t be getting a tribute video from the Hawks, so getting his own jersey from them figures to be the next best thing. Who knows, it might even be a bigger collector’s item than this other similarly rare jersey.
LeBron James and life- long friend Maverick Carter's barbershop-style talk show, 'The Shop,' is mov- ing to HBO.
James, who recently re- located to Los Angeles by signing a four-year, $154 mil- lion contract with the Lakers, had been doing the program on his website, The Uninter- rupted. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, HBO has ordered a 'handful' of episodes, which began shooting in Los Angeles at West Hollywood's Barber Surgeons Guild last week.
The show will premiere on HBO at 11pm on August 28.
In one part of the preview, James can seen discussing the stress of parenthood: specifically watching his sons
follow in his hardwood foot- step.
He also admitted to being an overly-competitive par- ent.
'I didn't get into an argu- ment with an AAU dad,' James said when talking about seeing his son, Le- Bron, Jr., play youth bas- ketball. 'I got into an argument with an AAU mom.'
James also confessed that he regretted giving his oldest son the 'Jr.' moniker, and gave a little window into his reasoning: 'When I was younger, obviously I didn't have a dad, my whole thing was when I have a kid, not only is he going to be a "Jr." I'm gonna do everything that this man didn't do.'
