City Mourns Loss Of 3 Employees In A Month

Employees with the City of Tampa are mourning the loss of three employees within the last month. A fu- neral service will be held on Saturday for the third em- ployee who passed away on October 17th.
All three of the employ- ees had ties to East Tampa at the time of their passing.
Funeral services for Sam Sandy, 47, will be held on Saturday, October 26th, at St. John Primitive Baptist Church in Clearwa- ter, at 2 p.m.
Sandy was at home with his family when he suddenly became ill. He was transported to a local

hospital, where he died. Sandy was a 14-year veteran with the City of Tampa. For the past 5 years, he worked as a Code Enforcement Officer in East Tampa. Prior to joining Code Enforcement, he

worked in the Special Serv- ices Division at the Solid Waste Department.
On October 5th, 64-year- old Stanley Wood passed away. He launched his ca- reer with the City in 1995 as a tree trimmer. He had

daily interactions with resi- dent as a staff member of the Parks & Recreation De- partment. Wood was em- ployed with the City for 25 years.

Parks & Recreation Depart- ment staff member, Moore had been employed with the City for 9 years.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor said, “At the City of Tampa, we are family first and foremost. We work to- gether, celebrate successes and mourn our losses. They dedicated many years to serving our community and we are eternally grateful.
