This is the Riverwalk Final Bronze Bust Cere- mony
Dr. Benjamin E. Mays,
executive director of the Tampa Urban League in 1927- 1928, will be honored Friday, December 1, 2017, 11 a. m., when his bronze bust will join five other inductees on the Tampa Riverwalk. “Since 2012 our committee
has researched the history of numerous men and women who have made significant contributions to Tampa and nominated them for this honor,” said monument com- mittee member Fred Hearns. “Under the leader- ship of Atty. Steve Ander- son and others, we will induct six more worthy persons this year.”

The Mays supported nu- merous needy juveniles in Tampa at a time when there were few effective social serv- ice options available to Blacks. After they left Tampa he later served as the 6th president of Atlanta’s Morehouse College (1940-1967).
