IN THE SPOTLIGHT
This year’s Hillsborough County Senior Games will feature plenty of intense ath- letic battles as hundreds of the area’s 50-and-older ath- letes vie for gold, silver, or bronze in dozens of competi- tions. The Senior Games, though, are about cama- raderie as well as competi- tion, and nowhere is that more clear than in the rela- tionships between some of the athletes.
Robert Williams, 89, will be competing in every track event and every swim- ming event. His son, 63-year- old Jeffrey Williams, will be flying in from New Jersey
to compete in the track events as well. “I’ll just be try- ing to keep up with him,’’ Jeffrey Williams said.
The 2016 Senior Games run from Sept. 26 through Oct. 14. The deadline to register is Sept. 9.
A Registration fee is re- quired and includes two tick- ets to the Oct. 14 Celebration Luncheon at All People’s Life Center, 6105 E. Sligh Ave. in Tampa.
