First Annual ‘Honoring Our Heroes’ Day Program Planned
On Saturday, September 10th, several members of the community will be recog- nized. They will become the inaugural honorees of the First Annual “Honoring Our Heroes Day.”
The event is being hosted by Ann Thompson & Associ- ates Realty LLC and Sun- shine Real Estate of Tampa Bay LLC. The program will take place at the Robert W. Saunders Public Library, 1505 N. Nebraska Avenue, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The honorees are being recognized as part of the Minnesota-based Homes for Heroes, Inc., established shortly after 9/11. It is the largest nationwide hero sav- ings program and is now available in Tampa.
The honorees are: David Butierries, U. S. Coast Guard; Dr. Zenobia Cann, U. S. Army; Nicholas Caris, U. S. Marine Corps; Dr. Gerard R. Hough, Pe- diatrician; Lt. Robert Jones, Hillsborough County Fire Department EMS; Larry Keith, U. S. Air Force; Matt Kohan, Tampa Firefighter; Jouay
Koppari, U. S. Navy; Deputy Stephanie Krager, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office; Captain David Macaluso,
Hillsborough County Firefighter; and Wayne Moore, Just Elementary School.

“Our honorees include active, reserve, and retired members of the military, members of law enforce- ment, active and retired fire- fighters, and healthcare professionals. We invite you and your family to join us for a day of fun, laughter, games, prizes, and more as we honor those that serve us in our community every day and remember those that lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks 15 years ago.”

Residents Go To Polls On Final Day Of Early Voting
In what has been dubbed “Souls To The Polls,” a Sunday event, residents are urged to go to an Early Voting site to cast their ballots after leaving worship on Sunday. For the 2016 Primary Election, some residents gathered at Cyrus Greene Park on Sunday, August 28th and walked a few blocks to C. Blythe Andrews, Jr. Branch Library to cast their ballots. Atty. Rena Frazier was at the voting site with her daughter, Alivia Frazier.
Hillsborough County Branch NAACP President, Dr. Bennie Small was at the voting site.
Jim Waters and Atty. Jeraldine Williams, mother of then-candidate Walter Smith, were also there.
At the site campaigning for their fa- vorite candidate were: Corey “King Cobra” Felton, Michael Reed, and Coach John “Saw Pretty” Brooks.
