New York Congressman To Skip Trump’s State Of
President Responds Via Tweet To JAY-Z’s ‘Superbug’ Remark
The Union Speech Tuesday
After JAY-Z referred to President Donald Trump as a “superbug” during the pre- miere of CNN’s The Van Jones Show on Saturday (January 27), the current POTUS fired back.
On Sunday (January 28), Pres. Trump headed to his favorite mode of communica- tion — Twitter — to respond to the Hip Hop giant and patted himself on the back for a de- cline in the Black unemploy- ment rate.
“Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my poli- cies, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!,” Trump wrote. But critics say economic growth began under Presi- dent Obama and unemploy- ment remains far higher among the Black population than the white.
JAY-Z said focusing on un- employment rates was "miss- ing the point".
"It's not about money at the end of the day...money doesn't equate to happiness. It doesn't. That's missing the whole point. You treat people like human beings...that's the main point."
He then said Trump's elec- tion was due to a failure to properly address certain prob-
Rep. Gregory Meeks
said Sunday he’ll boycott the State of the Union address because President Trump doesn’t deserve the honor of his presence.
Meeks represents Trump’s childhood home district in Queens.
He joins several other members of the Congres- sional Black Caucus who are outraged over Trump’s re- sponse to violence during a white nationalist rally in the Charlottesville, Va., his stand on immigration policies, his continuing birther claims against President Obama and alleged denigration of certain African nations as “shithole” countries.
Other Congressional Black Caucus members boycotting include Reps. Maxine Wa- ters, leader of the impeach Trump movement; Freder- ica Wilson, who Trump disparaged as “wacky” over a dispute with a Gold Star fam- ily, and John Lewis, the civil rights icon.
Other Democrats planning to skip include Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer, Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky and Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal.
New York congressman Gregory Meeks says he too will skip President Trump’s State of The Union Speech on Tues- day night.
The White House said Trump plans to deliver an optimistic message and make a bipartisan appeal to work with Democrats.
Other Democrat members of Congress plan to attend but stage symbolic demonstra- tions by wearing black.
Rep. Meeks said Trump is now duping his con- stituents with bluster about how the newly passed tax cuts will help them, when in real- ity they’ll “lose everything” with future cuts to Social Se- curity, Medicare and Medi- caid to fund the $1.5 trillion bill.

lems.
"You have sprayed perfume
on the trash can," he said. "What you do when you do that is the bugs come. You spray something and you create a su- perbug because you don't take care of the problem."
"You don't take the trash out, you keep spraying whatever over it to make it acceptable.
As those things grow, you create a superbug. And then now we have Donald Trump, the superbug.”
He was also asked about the president's alleged use of the word "shithole" to describe African nations.
"It's disappointing and hurt- ful," he said. "Everyone feels anger. After the anger, it's re- ally hurtful because he's like looking down on a whole pop- ulation of people.”
Pres. Trump has denied accusations he is racist. He has said the language he used was "tough" but disputed the word- ing of the reports.
Oprah Winfrey says she doesn’t have “the DNA” for a presidential bid, dismissing the possibility of a 2020 run as “not something that inter- ests me,” according to a new magazine profile.
Winfrey spoke to InStyle magazine before her rousing Golden Globes speech – she received the Cecil B. DeMille Award – that some observers
heralded as a test of the polit- ical waters, but unless she’s changed her mind in the weeks since, taking the Trump challenge isn’t in her cards.
Winfrey told the maga- zine she saw an “Oprah 2020” mug and thought it was “cute,” and even has met with (an unidentified) someone who offered campaign help.

Patton, who spoke at the
Republican National Conven- tion and planned Eric Trump’s wedding before she was appointed to HUD with no prior housing experience, dis- missed Ryan’s concerns on Twitter.
“As a conservative black fe- male who has publicly worked for & supported @realDon- aldTrump, I’ve been getting death threats from fellow mi- norities on the left for the past 3 years — so welcome to the club. @AprilDRyan,” she wrote.
The two continued to trade words before Patton tweeted,
“I hear #MissPiggys still on a rampage. Gee, I must’ve struck a nerve, @AprilDRyan! #BankruptBlogger.”
Ryan told Patton to “kick rocks” and “find a job.”
“Whose wedding are you planning now and what wig company do you work for?” Ryan demanded.
Ryan later thanked her Twitter followers for support- ing her and tweeted, “For the record I don’t know this woman @LynnePattonHUD and don’t know why my name is in her mouth. Since she started targeting me yesterday over my death threats I have found out.”
An official for the Depart- ment of Housing and Urban Development called veteran journalist, April Ryan “Miss Piggy” during a heated debate that played out on social media.
Lynne Patton’s vile, now- deleted tweet about April Ryan of the American Urban Radio Networks also included the hashtag “BankruptBlog- ger.”
An hour later, Patton wrote, “I deleted my last tweet by choice. No one from this Administration contacted me. It was beneath me & I apolo- gize to @AprilDRyan.”
The event planner who landed a job in the Trump ad- ministration apologized for calling April “Miss Piggy,” and also noted that: “My par- ents raised me to respect oth- ers & I regret my response. I apologize to them, @Secre- taryCarson & the Trump fam- ily. They deserved better,” Patton added.
