IN THE SPOTLIGHT
  ALONNA
This week’s Spotlight feature is the lovely Alonna. This young lady loves taking pictures, and says she’s hoping to build a very nice portfolio and take her ca- reer to the next level. Alonna is unique in that she has a quiet side that a lot of people misread as a weakness. She assures you there’s nothing weak about anything she does, and as this week’s Spot- light feature, we thank her and hope to see her again.
Nephew Of State Rep. Dies Suddenly
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
In less than a week, death has struck twice in one Tampa family. On August 30th, one Tampa man died after suffering a heart attack. And on Saturday, September 5th, his cousin died suddenly of complications of juvenile diabetes.
State Representative Dianne Hart was shocked by the sudden death of her son, 44-year-old Michael Morrell, Jr. Then on Satur- day, her sister’s son, Mr. Delvin “Boss” Cochran, died suddenly while at home.
Mr. Cochran would have celebrated his 35th birthday on September 9th.
Mr. Cochran was the son of Ms. Darlene Brown and Grover Cochran.

Ms. Hart said her nephew had been diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 14 and was currently on dialysis. “We knew that he wasn’t well, but we never thought he was that ill.”
A Tampa native, Mr. Cochran began his educa-
tion in the public school sys- tem of Hillsborough County. However, his mother relo- cated and he graduated from Redan High School, in At- lanta, GA.
While at Redan, Mr. Cochran was a member of his high school baseball team. His aunt said he was an avid baseball player until he became disabled.
“He loved baseball and he played until his health failed,” she said.
In addition to his parents and aunt, Mr. Cochran is survived by 3 sons, Delvin, Jr., Dylon, and Nasir; his younger sister, Tear; other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Cochran were incomplete at press time. Wilson’s Fu- neral Home is in charge of handling arrangements.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office To Host Gun Buy-Back
On Saturday, September 12th, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will host a Gun Buy-Back. The purpose of the event is to allow residents to get rid of unwanted firearms.
The event will take place at two locations beginning at 8 a.m., and concluding at 12 noon. The locations are: the Falken- burg Road Jail, 520 N. Falkenburg Road; and the Hillsborough County West Service Unit, 9805 Sheldon Road.
Each person who turns in an unwanted firearm will be given $50.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said, “Residents can turn in the guns anonymously. When they arrive, the guns must be unloaded and placed in the backseat or the trunk of the vehicle. The deputies will then remove the firearms.
“This is just an opportunity for people to safely dispose of unwanted guns in a safe manner to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. It is completely voluntary and there will be no questions asked.”
Once surrendered, the guns will be checked and those cleared will be destroyed.
