Rob Gronkowski is in a bit of an awkward spot with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and recognizes it.
Gronk played nine seasons for the New England Patriots and put up some incredible numbers for them. He has 521 career catches for 7,861 receiv- ing yards and 79 career receiv- ing touchdowns. He’s among the most accomplished tight ends in NFL history. But Gronk took last season off and has come out of retirement to join the Bucs.
Now that he’s returning to the NFL and playing for a new team, he feels like a rookie
Longtime Girlfriend
Tyrod Taylor Named Chargers’
Starting QB For Week 1
The Los Angeles Chargers have said all offseason that Tyrod Taylor will be their starting quarterback in Week 1, and head coach Anthony Lynn has now made it official.
Lynn told reporters that Taylor is “our starter” heading into the season.
The Chargers used the No. 6 overall pick on Justin Her- bert, so it goes without saying that they believe the former Oregon star can become a fran- chise quarterback for them. Lynn heaped praise on Taylor after the draft, though he did

leave the door open for Her- bert to win the starting job. However, it has seemed clear from the start that they do not want to rush the rookie.

again.
“I kind of felt like a rookie
with experience at first. You gotta gain the trust of your teammates, you gotta gain the respect of your teammates, you gotta go out there and learn the system,” Gronk said recently.
BRITTANY MATTHEWS AND PATRICK MAHOMES
Just call him "Lord of the Rings."
Kansas City Chiefs super- star quarterback Patrick Ma- homes who just signed a 10 year, $503M deal and the rest of the team received their Super Bowl rings at Arrowhead Stadium last week, commemo- rating their win over the San Francisco 49ers in February.
Then shortly afterward, Mahomes gave another mas- sive rock to his longtime girl- friend -- now fiancée -- Brittany Matthews.
Mahomes, 24, proposed to Matthews from what ap- peared to be a press box at the stadium following the ring- laden ceremony, posting the caption "Ring Szn" in an Insta- gram story.
Dwayne Haskins Named Starting QB By Washington
DWAYNE HASKINS
Coach Ron Rivera con- firmed last week that Dwayne Haskins will start Week 1, beating Alex Smith and Kyle Allen for the job.
This is no real surprise. Allen always looked like a longshot. Smith, on the other hand, is working his way back from a catastrophic injury. He may be a good option down the road, but camp was mostly about just getting him back on the field.
Washington is still hopeful that Haskins can be the fran- chise quarterback. The 23- year-old showed little last season, going 2-5 in seven starts with seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’ll need to start showing some im- provement in 2020.
