Patrick Day Remains Hospitalized, Under Medical Care

Anthony Davis Suffered Thumb Sprain In Preseason Game

The Los Angeles Lakers are still in China, having wrapped up its two preseason tilts against the Brooklyn Nets. But during the team’s second game, which took place on Saturday, Anthony Davis suffered an apparent thumb injury.
Davis hurt his thumb during the first quarter of action while attempting to swipe at the ball, and the All-NBA big man tried staying in the game before leav- ing and ending his afternoon after 12 minutes of work.
The initial diagnosis on Davis’ injury is a sprained right thumb, and once the team returns stateside, he’ll get some more tests done to learn the ex- tent of the injury.
Antonio Brown Wants Off-Field Issues Resolved Within Next Few Weeks

Despite what you’ve heard, Antonio Brown very much wants back into the NFL, and he wants it to happen soon.
According to ESPN’s Je- remy Fowler, Brown is hop- ing to have his off-field issues and investigations resolved within the next few weeks. He will wait until that happens to sign with a new team to ensure that he knows he will be able to play immediately, but is eager to clear things up as quickly as possible.

  American teenager Coco Gauff won her first WTA title by beating Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 to capture the Upper Austria Ladies on Sunday.
The 15-year-old Gauff, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon and third round at the U.S. Open, bounced back after losing a one-sided second set to win comfortably.
Gauff had earlier called Linz "my little lucky place" and its charm held for the teenager through the final despite a late wobble. After racing out to a 5- 0 lead in the deciding set,

to Ostapenko before closing out the match.
Patrick Day’s quest to turn things around in his ca- reer has now led to a literal fight for survival.
The former amateur stand- out from the Freeport section of Long Island, New York re- mains under round-the-clock observation from head injuries sustained in a 10th round stop- page loss to Charles Con- well. The junior middleweight crossroads bout—which aired live on DAZN evening from Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois—ended with Day knocked down for the third
time on the night, leaving him unconscious and requiring the aid of a stretcher in order to leave the ring.
That was just the beginning of the most important fight of his life.
Day (17-4-1, 6KOs) is now being held at nearby North- western Memorial Hospital in Chicago, where he underwent emergency brain surgery and was administered a breathing tube for survival purposes. As this goes to publish, Day is out of surgery and currently in a medically induced coma.
  Simone Biles Beats World Record, Earns 24th World Championship Medal

     Simone Biles beat the world record for world champi- onship gymnastics medals on Sunday with a gold medal on the balance beam in Stuttgart, Germany.
She had previously tied the record on Saturday after win- ning the women's vault compe- tition at the International Gymnastics Federation event in Stuttgart, Germany.
With 24 world champi-
onship medals in tow, she has beat the record of Belarusian Vitaly Scherbo as the most- decorated athlete to compete at the world championships. Biles, 22, is a four-time Olympic gold medalist who also took gold in women’s vault in addition to team victories in the all-around competition. In total, Biles now has 18 world gold medals, three silvers, and three bronzes to her name.
