Judge Rejects DA's Bid For Gag Order In Cuba Gooding, Jr. Sex Abuse Case
A judge shot down the Manhattan District Attor- ney’s Office bid to muzzle Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s de- fense team with a gag order just days before the actor’s sex abuse trial is set to begin, The Post has learned.
Prosecutor Jenna Long sent a letter to Judge Phyl- lis Chu Sept. 25 asking her to direct the attorneys to “re- frain from discussing the evi- dence with members of the press or disclosing any mate- rials provided in discovery to the press or public.”
Sources said Chu denied the request.
The “Jerry Maguire” actor is scheduled to go to trial Thursday on charges of forcible touching and sex abuse for allegedly squeezing a woman’s breast June 9 in- side the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge.
In the letter, Long said that she was handing over to the defense videos the com- plainant posted to YouTube
CUBA GOODING, JR.
in which she makes “refer- ences to mental health, prior sexual abuse and sexual ex- periences and feelings.”
Although these videos were posted publicly, Long said that since the alleged in- cident the victim had changed her YouTube chan- nels to private.
