heologians haggle over the accuracy of Isaiah
11:6, whether it should be “A little child shall lead them,” or “A little child will lead them.”
Be that as it might, the secular and sacred meanings met at the crossroads when thousands of public school students in a coordinated effort pulled off a planned walkout from their classrooms in choreographed grief over the deaths of 17 students and teachers in Stone- man Douglas High School.
In one breathless effort, despite political ambiva- lence and social ambiguity, America’s public education spirit ground to a dramatic-if-inglorious halt.
What happened?
Little children co-opted the reins and led our nation. That’s what happened.
Indeed, not every professional politician was caught napping when the hammer fell. Florida’s Senator Bill Nelson, tireless champion of commonsense was once more spot-on in his support of a public school walkout and the reasons that fomented it.
Unlike his colleagues, Nelson continued to assault the unwillingness of NRA politicians to pull the plug on their sacred cow AR-15 consumptions. Most certainly, Nelson and a few others saw the writing on the wall.
And what did the writing on the wall have to say?
Simply this: “The Voting Age in America is 18,’ a simplistic sentence that should cause lumps in the throats of countless lifetime legislators whose necks – on the issue of gun control – remind us of conservative ostriches.
Indeed, the student walkout was more than a show of grief. Instead, it was a flexing of muscle...a dress re- hearsal for the great voter equilibrium yet to come.
We support our nation’s children who in this day have celebrated a bar mitzvah far more reminiscent than any story written in any holy book. However, only holy eyes could have the power to see it and interpret it for the truth it manifests.
And, we are proud we lived to see that day when a little child stepped forward to lead the mightiest nation on the face of the earth.
   They Lied To You
   mpowered Greet-
ings. Darren Hardy says, “The more suc- cessful you are, the more people lie to you.” Have you ever stopped to think about who in your life is telling you the truth? Who is telling you a lie? And why?
More importantly, what role do you play in fostering people to lie to you? Do you tempt people to lie to you? You may not willingly tempt people to lie to you, but there may be some qualities you possess that causes people to lie to you.
Due to the level of success you are perceived as having, people around you may want to impress you. So, they may boost your ego with a lie. Yep, they tell you what they think you want to hear verses
what you need to hear. People hold you in such high regards that they may not tell you what they really think. This is because they
don’t want to offend you. On the other hand, they also want you to see them in positive light. The lie not only protects your feelings of self-worth, but it boosts their self-esteem and increases their sense of self-worth to
you. So, they lied to you.
If you are in the roll of au- thority people subject to you are prone to lie to you. This could happen when the envi- ronment is not conducive for
people to tell you the truth. Do you operate from a position that fosters open di- alogue with those that are subordinate to you? Are you receptive to the opinions,
ideas or viewpoints of oth- ers?
Do you lead with fear and intimidation? Unfortunately, in life, business and ministry this will lead to stagnation of growth for all involved. Such a demeanor will cause people to lie to you?
Honesty is the best pol- icy. Be sure your success stimulates people to be open and honest with you. This al- lows your success to em- power others to be successful, too.
