   Early Morning Fire Displaces Families
The fire destroyed a 4-unit building at 6603 N. 50th Street, Sunday.

Girl, 16, Linked To Murder Arrested; Another Sought
   An early morning fire de- stroyed an apartment build- ing, displacing four families. The fire took place around 5:24 a.m. at the Del Rio Apartments, 6603 N. 50th Street.
When the Hillsborough County Fire Department ar- rived at the four-unit com- plex, flames were burning through the roof of one build- ing. All of the five adults and four children escaped with- out injury, Hillsborough
County Fire Rescue said. One resident told officials he heard a pop around 4 a.m. and saw flames coming from his bathroom fan. He extin- guished the fire with water and went to bed. He was later awakened by the smoke
alarms.
The entire building was
destroyed. The Central Florida American Red Cross has been contacted to help the displaced residents, Fire Rescue said.
Police have arrested a 16- year-old Tampa girl in con- nection with a fatal shooting in Sarasota Sunday. They are seeking a 16-year-old teenager as well.
Ms. Sha’Miya Williams, 16, of Tampa, is facing charges of murder and attempted murder. She was arrested Monday by the Hills- borough County Sheriff’s Of- fice.
According to the Sarasota Police Department, the fatal shooting took place Sunday, February 6, 2022, around 4:22 p.m. Sarasota Police offi- cers responded to the 2200 block of Palmadelia Avenue, because of multiple 9-1-1 calls of shots being fired. The ini- tial investigation revealed that three juvenile victims sus- tained gunshot wounds.
A 17-year-old male victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he later died. A 16-year-old male victim, was shot in the hand,

and a 9-year-old female vic- tim, was shot in theshoulder. They were also taken to Sara- sota Memorial Hospital for their injuries. There were six more juveniles, ages 7, 10, 17, 13, 11, and 13, who were in the line of gunfire but fortunately did not get shot.
Several witnesses told Sarasota Police they saw two people shooting from a gold-colored sedan that came to a stop at the intersection of 22nd Street and Palmadelia Avenue. Witnesses said one
of the shooters was using a rifle from the rear driver’s side door and the other shooter was using a handgun from the driver’s seat. Vic- tims on the scene told officers that the shooting incident was the result of an altercation be- tween two of the victims.
The Sarasota Police De- partment is continuing to look for Thamar Liafortune, 16, of Bradenton. Liafortune is facing charges of murder and attempted homicide. Police did not reveal how they iden- tified the suspects in the shooting. This incident re- mains an ongoing investiga- tion.

  Teenager Charged With Murder, Armed Robbery

 Detectives have arrested a 17-year-old and charged him in connection with a fatal shooting in December. During the incident, a 16-year-old was killed and a 32-year-old man was injured. The shooting was the result of an armed robbery.
According to the Tampa Police Department, on Decem- ber 28th, around 4 p.m. the 32- year-old man was in the Takomah Trail Park, 10099 Takomah Trail, when a group of teenagers or young adults attempted to rob him. At some point during the confrontation shots were fired and the victim was injured by gunfire.
The victim, who has a per- mit to carry a gun returned fire. At that point, the victim and the suspects fled the scene.
Police located the uniden- tified victim at a different loca- tion and was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
When police officers ar- rived at the scene, they discov- ered that 16-year-old Ian D. Thomas had also been hit by gunfire. He died at the scene.
A group of individuals attempted to rob a man while in the Takomah Trail Park on December 28th. The victim was in- jured and one of the would-be robbers was killed during an exchange of gunfire. A teenager has since been arrested and charged in the case.
   Through investigative means homicide detectives learned that a group of individuals (including Thomas) shot and robbed the victim in Takomah Trail Park. The victim responded by firing his legally-owned and properly-permitted concealed gun, striking Thomas.
As the investigation con- tinued, police have identified and arrested a second teenager. Amerie Roberts was taken into custody and charged with armed robbery
and second-degree murder. Roberts turned himself in to police. He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Cen- ter.
Roberts was part of the group individuals involved in the robbery on December 28th at the park. He is facing a sec- ond-degree murder charge due to his participation in a felony criminal incident that resulted in the death of Thomas.
The investigation is contin- uing.
