Tampa Native And Navy Sailor Volunteers For Gold Star Families
   On Saturday, December 8, 2018, Mr. Rechi Butler, founder of the Get It Straight Founda- tion, spoke to the Pathfinders Youth Program in St. Petersburg. The decision-making work- shop involved youth in middle and high school.

Bay Area Resident Chosen ‘Sailor Of The Day’ Aboard USS John C. Stennis
  U. S. Rep. Kathy Cas- tor (FL14) recently an- nounced 27 High School students who received her of- ficial nomination for admis- sion into the nation’s military academies: Air Force, Navy, Army, and Merchant Marine.
Rep. Castor said, “I am proud to have so many stu- dents in Florida’s 14th Con- gressional district who are interested in serving Amer- ica.
“These impressive stu- dents are tomorrow’s leaders and, by applying to a U. S. military academy, they are demonstrating their commit- ment to working hard for an excellent education and serv- ing our country.”
Receiving a nomination to the nation’s military acad- emies is a vital step towards being appointed and attend- ing the academies. Nomina- tions are earned based upon each student’s interview with U. S. Rep. Castor’s Nomi- nation Committee, their indi- vidual academic record, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities. Because of the stringent application requirements, most students begin preparing for their ap- plication as early as their first years of High School.
