U. S. and Canada
Caring people are being encouraged by For The Fam- ily, other nonprofit agencies, school systems, local govern- ments, and faith-based or- ganizations to do something especially kind from De- cember 17th through the 21st in any way they choose.
In addition to being fea- tured in this latest edition of the National Days of Kind- ness, they could earn nation- wide acclaim and a Family Flame Award.
Creative kindness is espe- cially welcome, though any good and kind deed that will make a positive difference to both the giver and those who benefit.
For example, elementary and middle school students across Hillsborough County are developing kind actions
both the National Days of Kindness and its broader Kindness of the Heart initia- tive at Thursday’s meeting.
When participants send a 1-minute smartphone video of whatever they do to, ForTheFamilyTampa@gmail .com, they’ll also be eligible to be honored in the Random Acts of Kindness category at The Fourth Annual National FAM Awards next Novem- ber.
The 2018 edition was held at the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County on November 16, and honored people doing kind acts just as the Academy Awards honors actors.
The National Days of Kindness are part of Kind- ness of the Heart, an ongoing celebration of the positive that involves partner organi- zations from coast-to-coast in the U. S. and Canada.
The purpose is to publi- cize the positive impact of simple, everyday kindness at a time when far too much at- tention goes to mean-spir- ited actions and bad behavior.
Kindness of the Heart
is an ongoing celebration of the positive kind actions that happen all around us, but are too often ignored.
In addition to Random Acts of Kindness, video nom- inations submitted from throughout North America will be eligible for Family Flame Awards in the follow- ing categories: Parent, Spouse, Sister, Brother, Son, Daughter, Volunteer, First Responder/Military, Praise and Gratitude, Kind Initia- tives & Programs, and Kind- ness to & from Animals. Law Enforcement Investigates Several Bomb Threats
Law enforcement officers throughout the area investi- gated several bomb threats last week. All of the bomb threats were sent by email. Several law enforcement agencies throughout Central Florida investigated the threats. However, in each case no devices were found.
In each case, the threats were not identical, but similar to email messages that were sent around the Tampa Bay Area, the state and the nation.
The treats were sent to local businesses, in one case a charter school, a variety of businesses, including two law firms, an industrial equip- ment business, a construction and architectural firm, and a credit counseling service.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office investigated a total of 13 bomb threats to
local businesses. Investigators with the
Tampa Police Department re- sponded to a total of 9 bomb threats.
The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to three bomb threats during the day.
The St. Petersburg Police Department investigated four bomb threats received by businesses in their jurisdic- tion.
The Sarasota Police De- partment also received sev- eral threats. The threats in that city were also sent to businesses.
In all cases, law enforce- ment said no devices were found and they do not believe that the public is in danger.
The investigation into the threats is continuing.
