President Obama: Orlando Massacre Was An
Act Of ‘Terror And Hate’
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA

President Barack Obama
on Sunday declared the worst mass shooting in U.S. history “an act of terror and an act of hate.”
“Today, as Americans, we grieve the brutal murder, a hor- rific massacre, of dozens of in- nocent people,” Obama said, addressing the nation after meeting with FBI Director James Comey and his home- land security and national secu- rity advisers. “We pray for their families, who are grasping for answers with broken hearts. We stand with the people of Or- lando, who have endured a ter- rible attack on their city.
President Obama said the FBI is leading the investigation in collaboration with local law enforcement and added that he has directed that the full re- sources of the federal govern- ment be made available for the probe.
“We’ve reached no definitive judgment on the precise moti- vations of the killer,” Obama said. “The FBI is appropriately investigating this as an act of terrorism, and I’ve directed that we must spare no effort to de- termine what, if any, inspiration or association this killer may have had with terrorist groups.”
Attorney General Loretta Lynch, who was on a trip to China with Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson for cy- bersecurity talks, announced they would return to Washing- ton and that she will take charge of the investigation.
The shooter was identified as Omar Saddiqui Mateen, who died in a gunfight with SWAT officers after initially firing shots into the club and eventu- ally taking hostages. Mateen, of Afghan parentage, was a U.S. citizen living in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Malia Obama was in 5th grade when her father became the President of the United States. Growing up before the world, the 17-year-old is now a high school graduate. It was an emotional day on Friday for the Obamas, but Malia seemed to have the best day ever.
On her little sister Sasha's 15th birthday, 17-year-old Malia Obama graduated from the prestigious Sidwell Friends School in D.C. The eldest Obama daughter turns 18 on the 4th of July, so we can all imagine how her mom and dad are feeling about their baby girl growing up so fast.
Malia copped her diploma in her white dress (which all the young lady graduates wore due to tradition) and with her Presidential parents cheering her on. President Obama was spotted giving his baby girl a big hug afterwards.
But there was no fanfare even with the President and First Lady of the United States in attendance. The school is known to have plenty of dignitaries' and diplomats' kids as students, so they're pretty used to heads of state being around.
When Malia's name was called, Papa Obama gave her a standing ovation. He even stayed true to his word about wearing dark sun- glasses.
“I’m going to be wearing dark glasses,” he told a group of supporters during a visit to Detroit earlier this year after saying he couldn't speak at Malia's graduation because he would be too emotional. “I’m going to cry.”
President Obama hugs his daughter, Malia at her graduation. When her name was called President Obama stood up and cheered.
