HARMON
MRS. DELORES HOWARD WILFORD
Homegoing services for Mrs. Delores Howard Wilford who passed away on August 18, 2016, will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 2 p. m., at Harmon Fu- neral Home, 5002 N. 40th Street, Tampa, 33610, with Pastor Sharena Woods, officiating; Apostle Tony Woods, Eulogist. Interment will be placed on Tues- day, September 6, 2016 in Florida National Cemetery.
Delores Howard Wilford was born June 14, 1947 in North Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Trudy Mae Howard and Louis Howard.
Lowie, as she was affection- ately known, was educated in the Philadelphia School System. In her younger years she was in a group comprised of three girls called, The Bare Essentials, later changing the name to The After Hours. They sang all over the United States. The group also made a record called, “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” where Delores sang lead vocals.
She left North Philadelphia, PA in 1989 and moved to Florida with her children. They settled in Tampa, where her friends called her Dee. Lowie had a big smile and a big heart. She could spark up a conversation with anyone, a dignitary, a regular person going to work or a homeless person on the streets. They were all the same in her eyes. Anyone who knew Lowie would tell you she wasn’t afraid of speaking her mind and she would have the last word.
She loved her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren so much. She would move heaven and earth if she could for them. The legacy of love she left with us is incompa- rable. No, she wasn’t perfect but her love definitely was.
She was preceded in death by her child, Ben Thomas Wilford, brother, Richard Howard, and sister, Clorretta Delores Howard.
Delores leaves to cherish her memory: sisters, Roberta Howard, Frances and Thomas Warden, Pauline and Junior Harris, and Christine Howard; brothers, Selvester Howard, Leroy Howard, Robert Howard, Bernard Howard, Charles Howard; children, Hather Wil- ford, and Darrick Wilford; grandchildren: LaDevia Howard, Christina Howard, and DeYonta Moore, Jerry Price, DeAnne Rev- olus, and Moriah Wilford; great- grandchildren: James Linton, Jaheim Linton, Johad Hill, Ja’Nae Davis, Kai Price, Blair Price, AnYai Denai Hill-McFall, Jasir Davis, DeYonta Malachi Moore, Jr., Autumn De‘Jor Moore, and Knowledge Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
