Election Results
Election Results Close For Two State Seats

On Tuesday, members of the community went to the polls to cast ballots in the Primary Election. Some of the winners received a large majority of the votes. However, in two state races, the results were extremely close.
Ms. Gerry Kramer, spokesperson for the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Of- fice said the State Elections Office will determine if a recount is required in either the State Senate District 19 or the State Representative District 61 race.
She further said that the provisional ballots are not included in the unofficial results. The final results will be determined after those votes are counted.
There were four Democrats, Ed Narain, Betty Reed, Augie Ribeiro, and Darryl Rouson competing for the State Senate, District 19 Seat.

Ed Narain carried Hillsborough County with more than 40% of the votes.
According to State records, 61 votes separate Narain and Rouson.
Rouson captured 10,776 votes for 28.88% and Narain won 10,715 votes for 28.43%. The winner of this race will take on Republican can- didate John Houman in November.
The race for the State Representative, District 61, was also close with Sean Shaw winning 6,775 votes for 42.64% and Dianne Hart cap- turing 6,658 votes for 41.91% and The two were separated by 117 votes in Shaw’s favor.
Three County Races Will Require Runoff In November

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office has estimated an 18.89% turnout in Tuesday’s election. In addition to choosing a State Senator and State Representa- tive, Hillsborough County vot- ers were also called on to fill several local offices as well.
In three races, there were no clear winners and voters will vote for these candidates in a runoff election. The runoff will be included in the General Election in November.
Circuit Judge, Group 24
For people were vying for the Circuit Judge, 13th Judicial Circuit Group 24 seat. Melissa Polo captured 41.30% (56,687). She will face Gary Dolgin who won 34.54% (47,410) of the votes.
School Board, District 5

Five residents competed for the vacancy on the Hills- borough County School Board, District 5 Race. The two top slots were won by Tamara Shamburger, who won 25.70% (5,698) and Joe Jor- don-Robinson, who won 24.84% (5,506) of the votes.

LYNN GRAY School Board, District 7
The votes for the vacancy on the Hillsborough County School Board, District 7 Race were split between 8 candi- dates. The finally tally shows Cathy James won 23.09% (31,413) and Lynn Gray won 19.68% (26,771) of the votes.
