Tampa City Councilman John Dingfelder submitted his resignation Monday (March 14th) to Mayor Jane Castor and Council Chairman Orlando Gudes, and the City Attorney. His resignation opens a short- term vacancy, that will be filled by the City Council.
Individuals interested in fill- ing that vacancy, can go to the Tampa City Council website and fill out an application for ap- pointment. The Council has 30 days to fill the vacancy. The per- son appointed will fill out the re- mainder of Mr. Dingfelder’s term, and if led to, may run as a candidate to fill the seat. Council members will be up for re-elec- tion in 2023.
Dingfelder, who represents District 3, at-large, was elected in 2019.

Apparently, he has been in- volved in a disagreement with Steve Michelini, a consultant for developers, since October, 2021, and allegedly threatened Michelini at City Hall. As part of an agreement to dismiss the lawsuit, Dingfelder agreed to issue a letter of apology and re- sign from the Tampa City Coun- cil.
