Reality Rapper Draws Fans From All Walks Of Life
Pre-Registration Underway For Free Community/Law Enforcement Workshop
BY IRIS B. HOLTON Sentinel City Editor
If one were to ask Ms. Shqurria Walker to place herself in a single rap category, she couldn’t. And that is be- cause the young lady, known professionally as “K-Ruth, the Female Prophet” at- tracts a mixed audience. Peo- ple from all walks of life listen to her message.
She defines herself as a “Reality Rapper” because she talks about what’s real in life.
The Tampa native said she raps about the things she knows about. Those things in- clude her own personal chal- lenges, she raps about God, and the things a lot of young people are going through.
“I talk about God and I know that there are a lot of young people who are going through some of the same things. It’s hard out there and I try to motivate people to try to help someone else,” she said.
Her manager and pro- moter, Odell said, “She is the poster child for young people and the stuff they are going through. I normally don’t work

with young people. But she lis- tens and the Lord moved in my heart to help her.”
K-Ruth attended the pub- lic schools of Hillsborough County and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 2015. She earned a full schol- arship and attended Tallahas- see Community College. But while the scholarship covered the costs of academics, the struggle to pay for housing and other necessities proved to be too much.
The daughter of Deacon Timothy Walker and Ms. Stacey Lumpkin, K-Ruth
has a younger sister, Elroy- naja. K-Ruth is a member of Grace Mary M. B. Church. She credits Ms. Paulette Up- shaw with “keeping me in church.”
“Everything happens for a reason. The devil keeps trying to block all of my blessings. But I just know that when that hap- pens, something great is going to happen.”
When K-Ruth speaks about God, she said it is real. I grew up in church, so I’m not sounding hypocritical. I’m just talking about things in my life.”
While in school, the young lady majored in Forensics and said she loves that field. She plans to return to school after she regroups. But, music has always been her passion.
She has compiled her first CD entitled “Poetic Confes- sions,” and it was released last month. And, she has standing engagements to per- form.
