Woman Charged With Shooting Boyfriend

Shortly before noon on Monday, St. Petersburg police responded to an apartment in reference to a shooting. Offi- cers were sent to 4301 28th Street, North, Apartment #215.
The officers found 39- year-old Antoine McElroy lying on the floor, suffering from a gunshot wound to his mid-section. Ms. Erika Al- isha Harvey, 26, was report- edly standing in the doorway.
McElroy was treated by paramedics before being transported to Bayfront Med- ical Center. His condition was listed as serious, but not life- threatening.
During the investigation, police learned that Ms. Har- vey and McElroy live to- gether in the apartment and she admitted to shooting him during an argument.
Ms. Harvey allegedly Fires

told police they were arguing over cellphone usage and the suspicion of cheating.
They recovered a 9 mm Smith & Wesson handgun used in the shooting. It was found inside the apartment.
Ms. Harvey was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery, domestic violence.
House Being Renovated Catches Fire
The Hillsborough County Fire Department is currently investigating a fire in the 8000 block of Sharon Dr. The home was being reno- vated at the time the fire took place.
Firefighters arrived at the home shortly after 3 on Tues- day to discover heavy smoke
coming from the rear of the home. They searched the structure and determined that no one was inside.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
3 People Escape, 5-Year-Old Dies In House Fire
Two adults and a child es- caped, but a 5-year-old child died Tuesday in a house fire. The fire took place at 2701 6th Street, South, in St. Peters- burg.
According to the St. Pe- tersburg Police Department, firefighters responded to the home just before noon. Fire- fighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly. However, the child, identified as Hassan Jerome Vann, did not survive. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death was smoke in-
halation.
Officials said that after re-
alizing he was still inside the home, the parents, identified as Robert Vann, 71, and Ebony Jackson, 36, at- tempted to get back into the home, but were unsuccessful. Another child, 4-year-old Hassana Vann escaped without injury.
Officials said the fire began in the northeast bedroom of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation. However, no criminal charges are pending, officials said.
