It’s All In The Family For The Nelsons
A 68-year-old died this weekend in an industrial ac- cident. The accident took place near the intersection of Gandy Blvd., and Dale Mabry Highway.
According to the
Tampa Police Department, Kadri Elmazi, of Land O’ Lakes, was operating a “roller” machine shortly be- fore 11:30 a.m., Saturday. The machine was on a dirt embankment when it toppled over, trapping Elmazi under it.
His fellow construction workers at the location used a cable and excavator to lift the
roller off of the man. The Tampa Police and Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
Elmazi was declared dead at the scene about 20 minutes after the accident. The death is under investiga- tion. However, police said all evidence indicates it was a tragic industrial accident.
The company was work- ing on the Selmon West Ex- tension road construction project. When completed, the upper level road will connect the Selmon Expressway to the Gandy Bridge.
