Although his family’s roots are in the state of Oklahoma, nine- time Grammy nominee and hit making singer/songwriter Charlie Wilson will be making another appearance in Tampa.
Uncle Charlie will be appearing at this year’s Strawberry Fes- tival in Plant City on Saturday, March 12th, entering his second act that so far has topped his legendary first run as part of the Gap Band with his brothers.
Uncle Charlie has said he has no intentions of slowing down, and he concluded 2014 with two Grammy nominations – Best Rap/Sung collaboration and Best Rap Song – for his singing and songwriting contributions to Kanye West’s “Bound 2.”
Uncle Charlie has announced he is embarking on an 8-week “Forever Charlie” national arena tour, kicking off February 12th.
“It’s going to be an amazing and sexy tour for sure,” said Wilson who will be joined by special guests Kem and Joe.
The secret behind Wilson’s contemporary foothold starts with emotion packed, full bodied tenor vocals and real life lyrics that soar.
Uncle Charlie has embraced the songwriting team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who he says he’s happy to have finally done some records with.
Working through the lows of drug and alcohol addiction – and sober now for 20 years – a formerly homeless Wilson signed to Jive in 2004 after landing his first No. 1 Billboard hit in 2000.
Uncle Charlie chronicled his odds-defying life and career in a long anticipated biography that came out June 30, 2015.
Also appearing at this year’s Strawberry Festival will be Grammy award winner Lecrae Moore, who released his seventh studio album last year.
Lecrae has developed into one of the biggest music stories of the year. He’s appeared on The Tonight Show, the BET Experience, and co-headlined the highest ticketed tour in the country, Winter Jam, and received a nomination for Best Impact Track at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards.
