Anthony Davis Opting Out Of Contract But Will Re-Sign With Lakers
ANTHONY DAVIS
Still high off his first NBA championship, Anthony Davis plans to opt-out of his current contract, but the Laker big man will resign with the team.
Davis, who has a $28.7 million option with Los Ange- les, will make much more on the open market after an im- pressive run in the playoffs.
The Lakers can offer Davis a five-year, $202 million deal, which is above and beyond what any other team would be able to offer him.
Davis, along with agent Rich Paul, will meet up with the team during the off-season to discuss a deal.
The first-year Laker, who joined the team, in part, to play with LeBron James, could go for a shorter deal depending on how long teammate James stays with Los Angeles.
Miami Marlins Hire Kim Ng As First Female GM In Major Sports History
KIM NG
The Miami Marlins have just made a groundbreaking hire -- with the team welcom- ing baseball exec Kim Ng as the first female general man- ager in major pro sports his- tory.
The hire makes Ng the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations among all 30 MLB teams.
51-year-old Ng started her front-office career as an intern with the Chicago White Sox in 1991 ... working her way up the ladder and becoming assistant GM to Brian Cashman with the New York Yankees in 1998.
Saints QB Drew Brees
Opens Second Half
Has Rib Fractures,
As Saints QB
Collapsed Lung
The New Orlean Saints got the ball first in the third quar- ter and the quarterback lead- ing the offense wasn’t Drew Brees.
It was Jameis Winston, who is getting his first mean- ingful time with the team since signing as a free agent this offseason. He saw some mop-up duty during last Sun- day’s blowout win over the Buccaneers.
Brees was hit hard by 49ers defensive lineman Kentavius Street in the first half on a play that was flagged for roughing the passer. Street was charged with landing with his full body weight on Brees, which ap- peared to be a bad call despite the results for Brees.
Brees got up favoring his right shoulder, but remained in for the rest of the half and threw a touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara. He has been listed on the injury report due

to the shoulder over the last couple of weeks and remains on the sideline in uniform.
The Saints beat the 49ers, 27-13.
Winston completed 6 of 10 passes for 63 yards with no touchdowns and no turnovers.
The Saints have not speci- fied who would replace Brees if he can't start next Sunday's home date with the Atlanta Falcons -- though Winston would appear to be the lead- ing candidate based on his role with the team.
New Orleans Saints quar- terback Drew Brees has some significant injuries that will cause him to miss at least a few weeks.
Brees has several rib fractures and a collapsed lung, injuries he sustained over two different games.
Brees left Sunday’s win against the San Francisco 49ers and did not return for the second half, telling head coach Sean Payton that he wasn’t able to play.
Brees took a major hit from Niners defensive line- man Kentavius Street on a sack about halfway through the second quarter, getting slammed to the ground after bouncing off the back of one of his teammates. It was a

rough hit, and Brees looked
tentative after getting up. He stayed in for the remainder of the half, so we don’t know for sure if that hit caused Brees’ injuries. Jameis Winston replaced him at the start of the third quarter. Winston will probably be the starter Sunday against the Atlanta Falcon.
Terence Crawford Retains WBO Welterweight Title With Powerful TKO Of Kell Brook
TERENCE CRAWFORD
Going into his fourth WBO welterweight title defense on Saturday, Terence Craw- ford was supposed to be a quicker, better boxer than Kell Brook. He was clearly the more powerful puncher as well.
Crawford (37-0, 28 KOs) scored a highlight-reel knock- out over Brook (39-3, 27 KOs) at the 1:14 mark of the fourth round inside the MGM Grand. Crawford was no- ticeably patient the first three rounds of the fight, switching
stances and feeling Brook out. When he elected to move forward, the knockout came quickly and in devastating fashion, as Crawford nearly knocked Brook through the ropes with a short, lead right hand.
Referee Tony Weeks af- forded Brook an opportunity to continue, but Crawford was back on Brook immedi- ately and rocked him into the ropes with a right hook, which forced Weeks to stop the bout.
