Shooting Leaves 2 Injured, 1 Man Arrested
Two Men Killed In East Tampa
Shooting Spree
A 27-year-old man was ar- rested last week. The arrest came about while police were investigating gunshots in the area that left two others in- jured.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers were on patrol in the Robles Park Public Housing Com- plex. Around 10 p.m., officers heard gunshots in the area. There was a pause and then the officers heard a second round of gunshots in the same general area.
As the officers were en route to the area where the gunshots were heard, the dis- patchers began receiving 9-1-1 calls. The reports stated that a man had been shot near the intersection of E. Lake Avenue and N. Central Avenue.

As the investigation con- tinued, officers gathered evi- dence, which showed a Black man, later identified as Kengie P. Jones, was also firing a gun. Jones was lo- cated and taken into custody. He was charged with being a felon in possession of a hand- gun.
As the investigation un- folded, police were informed of a second gunshot victim at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The sec- ond victim was uncooperative with police and left the hospi- tal after treatment.

Detectives are currently investigating the latest in a series of deadly East Tampa shootings. Last Thursday, a shooting resulted in the death of two men and the injury to four others.
According to the Tampa Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of E. Palifox Street. When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men dead.
The two deceased men were ages 33 and 31, respec- tively. The other four victims were a 34-year-old woman, along with men ages, 24, 28, and 40 years old. All of the victims were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Police said there was no additional information avail- able at this time and the in- vestigation is continuing.
According to the go- fundme page, one of the vic- tims was identified as Jabari D. Herndon, of Tampa. The family is attempting to raise money for his burial.
The family stated on the page: “Our beloved family member Jabari D. Hern- don — a son, a brother, an uncle, and a nephew — was senselessly killed on Novem- ber 12, 2020. We are creat- ing this fundraiser in his honor which will support fu- neral arrangements and the immediate needs of his griev- ing mother and family.
“As you can imagine, the family is hurting deeply and we are trying to make sense of the senseless. Jabari had a warm heart, a great sense of humor, a perfect smile, and calm spirit. This is how

we want to remember our Jabari. He is more than loved, and we will carefully prepare the memorial he de- serves while giving the im- mediate family the space needed to grieve.

Police have not released any additional information about the multiple shootings that have plagued the city for several weeks.

Lil Wayne Arrested For Possessing Gun As Convicted Felon

Rapper Lil Wayne has been arrested and charged by federal prosecutors in Miami with illegal possession of a gun as a convicted felon.
The complaint alleges Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was found to be in pos- session of a firearm on Dec. 23, 2019, when it was re- ported that federal authorities conducted a search of his pri- vate jet.
According to the com- plaint, Wayne faces a maxi- mum of 10 years in prison if he is convicted. Lil Wayne net worth is $150 million.
Wayne drew controversy earlier this month when he endorsed and met with Pres- ident Donald Trump prior to Election Day. He said in a
tweet, and photo of the meet- ing, that he met with the pres- ident to discuss his criminal justice reform platform.
Black people were furious at Wayne, 50 Cent and Ice Cube for talking to Trump during the election.
